I'm not a big fan of any of the GOP roster.

But I'm sorry, if it's a bunch of ex-Califrnians in a barfight against Perry, I've got his back.

Can you imagine what the Alamo would've been like with the likes of people we have nowadays?

"That incompetent Col. Travis hasn't fortified the east wall very well. He also didn't write a very coherent dispatch to Houston. And Jim Bowie is a terrible drunk, he has no business with such a ridiculous knife--it's just for show you know....Santa Anna deserves to win if they don't address my concerns."

“Bobbie”

So we start ad-hominem. Sickening, just like my governor.

“What a wonderful recipe of instructions on how the Texas Governor should have, and could have done everything just so!”

Believe it or not, conservatives do have a set of values, at least the ones that aren’t on someone’s payrolll. Among these values are not coddling to illegals, not doping up little girls so they can have wild and crazy sex in their early teen years, and not stealing HUGE amounts of land in some fantasy-scheme called the Trans-Texas Corridor.

“It is a wonder indeed how the Lone Star State managed at all whilst you were living that “long time in California.”

Ohhh, a detective. And just where did I claim to be living in California and Texas at the same time? I was in California from the mid-80s to the mid-90s and got my butt out as quickly as I could when it started sinking. I got to see a Republican governor do nothing regarding Illegals - back when the state was a Republican majority. Now California is lost for good.

“Indeed, one expects California ought to be completely restored to Reagan’s Red State status under your direction out there, and Texas should be dragging bottom what with such a Marxist-Leninist as Rick Perry being governor here for a “long time”!”

Texas is about 20-30 years behind California due to demographics and the political leanings of Whites in Texas (i.e., large majority conservative, unlike California). But demographics are demographics and for every illegal Perry has protected, new, now-legal, voters spawn...just as it happened in California. You will regret this posting within a decade as we follow in California’s footsteps and shift blue (we’re only 55-45 red, at best, now) - thanks to a governor who CODDLED illegals, rather than dealt with the problem. We could have slowed this shift down, and maybe even brought enough Hispanics around to our side, but no - his coddling means that we get outswamped first, just like California. I hate to see my state go that way (again), but when you elect these types of Republicans, that’s what happens.

“One thing I missed in the thread, though. Who exactly was the uberconservative alternative to Perry we were supposed to install (other than your fine self, of course)?”

Valid point - we never had one thanks to the suck-ups in the Republican Party. The fact that the legislature rubber-stamped the Trans-Texas Corridor tells you all you need to know about the spine of Republicans in this state. We will have a conservative finally step-up, in 2014, I’m convinced, now that Texans finally understand just how unconservative he really is. I doubt Perry even runs again.

“If you’re upset as I am with the TSA and don’t want to fly, then I’d recommend I-10, 20 or 40 West for you to get you back where everyone talks Perry down the way you do. “

I just need to go to work here in Texas to find plenty of conservatives that are SICK of Perry. It’s not hard to do, once step out of his campaign office.

Just pointing it out to loosen things up a bit, so people know where you’re coming from. I’ve been called much worse, even in this thread.

Okay,

Who sponges off the taxpayer thru Fannie Mae? Who supported Republican turned Democrat in the NY House race 23? Who sits comfortably on the couch with Nancy Pelosi? Who mouths off against Ryan's plan first calling it social right wing engineering? Who supports amnesty? Who dodged the draft?

I'm just pointing out that none of these candidates are perfect, including yours and mine. All of their lists can be long on the good and not so good side. Get a grip.

I would suggest believing history, rather than appealing to authority. Which never works around here, since yesterday’s “authority” is today’s RINO.

Until recently, we all knew the truth about Gingrich. I can’t concern myself with collective amnesia.

I’d make some snide comment about up to your old tricks, but you aren’t usually so juvenile. I guess having to change your candidate more often than your clothes can make one cranky.

I expect you’ll be a long-time Santorum supporter as soon as the polls say it’s time.

The picture, true or not, painted of Gingrich sitting in the back of Air Force One for an entire flight, waiting patiently for an audience, only to be unloaded at the end of the flight, plays into that perception. His strong words after that event as well — the words were useless and harmful, but would have been appropriate while on the plane.

Gingrich is smart enough to have good ideas, smart enough to have bad ideas, and not always smart enough to be able to tell the difference.

Thanks for your reply. Yep, liberals, libertarians and libertines all share a fondness for being able to do anything they damn well please in their personal lives without consequences or responsibility.

That is exactly the advice (not specifically about illegal immigration) that I sent Perry. He has to come out swinging if he wants to improve his numbers. We watched as W kept quiet, never defended himself against outright lies, and let the left set the narrative. We don’t want that ever again.

We want a fighter not a slow, patient marathon runner. That’s why people love Rush, Sarah, and recently Newt. Conservatives are desperate for the truth to be told loudly and often. If a conservative candidate took the fight to the enemy on a consistent basis, (s)he would receive overwhelming support and probably vast sums of money.

You nailed my two least favorite guys in the “debate” last night. They are proof one needs a REALLY strong stomach for politics. Huntsman is weak as water and, as you said, a complete waste of time. It was only funny to hear him try to claim he’s more conservative and successful than Romney. Really, and he would cave to China on every level. I wonder if he’s in the campaign as a lobbyist/propagandist for the PRC....

And then the worm, Wrong Paul. I call his fans Paul-bearers. His blatherings are idiotic beyond belief and I’m sorry nothing better can be said for his supporters. When it comes to the reality of the world stage and the role of the POTUS, especially the need for a strong military, he is the original head-in-the-sand ostrich. He even looks kind of ostrich-like. Please, will someone besides Santorum call him out for being Libertarian and NOT Republican?

The sooner these two drop out, the better.

What really burns my backside with the ‘Modern Republican” is this...

Personally, I don’t consider myself any smarter or dumber that the average person. But when I look at the fact that Republicans since Ronaldus Magnus only seem to ‘speak up’ with the ever-decreasing frequency it takes to keep the voters on board...well, suddenly conspiracy theories don’t seem so outlandish. Now I’m never going to buy the Truther thing, simply because I don’t believe GWB is evil. I don’t doubt for a second however that Obama’s crew would do it though, as they ARE evil.

But to the point. I worked for a decade in different aspects of mainstream and internet media late 90s to 2008. I am well aware how that den of vipers ‘works’ and assure you to question everything including their usage of “the” and especially ‘is” ;)

As for the Repubs: Lets say you have a group of children playing baseball near a house and a ball goes through a window. A critically thinking person does not make the leap of ‘logic’ that due to the annual meteor shower, an errant bolide happened to impact and divert a ball tossed at 23.5 deg. relative to the original angle of....

Most likely, Occam’s Razor would direct us to little Billy.

Likewise, when we have an entire Republican political party willing to ignore, even assist the things that they have under Clinton/Gore/Pelosi/Reid/Obama and all the incestual governing combos thereof, well, I’m looking to the tabloids for guidance, not the NY Times. Or I simply admit to myself that the people who say that Dempublican Party exists aren’t nuts.

There is a reason that none of these Republicans play hardball. Perhaps it’s fear of black riots if Obama is ousted. Perhaps it’s the fact that the economy is about to crash due to their stupidity in guiding us down the road to Marxism. Perhaps The Pleadeians won’t allow us into the Galactic Federation until we form a one world government ruled under the guise of Green justice...

But there is a reason that the Republican party refuses to follow its own platform and is hellbent on giving us the BS they do rather than the governance we demand.

We must start raising hell that our ‘party’ (the one that conservatives have as the lesser of the evils...Ah! But is it really?) isn’t following it’s own platform...so just whose platform ARE they following?

I rant, therefore I Iz ;)

” - - - The anti-trust laws don’t apply to the federal government. - - - “

If this is true, then there is no limit to the great harm that the US Federal Government can do to it’s citizens.

BTW, would a class action lawsuit by the citizens against the US Federal Government be allowed in any Federal Court?

No. A citizen may bring a tort case against the federal government only under several narrowly limited circumstances. To my nowledge, a class action would not be allowed.
