Sarah Palin said she wasn't surprised at Rick Santorum's success in Iowa, and warned that the GOP should not take Ron Paul's supporters lightly.
Speaking on Fox News before Iowa's final numbers were in, she called Santorum "spot-on" with his policies toward Iran and praised his "social conservative" positions.
Her strongest comments came for Paul, however, saying "the GOP had better not marginalize Ron Paul and his supporters after this" because "a lot of Americans are war-weary and we are broke" and Paul has reached that constituency well. She warned that the GOP "better work with them."

I wonder if that is what the German people said about Hitlers thugs.
See, now that's exactly what Sarah is talking about. There are no doubt racists and anti-semites who support Paul. Some of them maybe even worked on his newsletter back in the 90s. But I have no doubt they represent a small fringe of the Paul voters. Calling all Paul voters Nazis is a great way to get them to dig in their heels and urge Paul to run third party.
Same mistake Palin makes...you think they are rational.
moneybomb, fed, moneybomb, fed....i win the debate
They will do whatever Paul tells them to do, it’s up to Paul, because they are in the cult of personality - Paulian style.
If Paul believe in half of what he says, he’ll support the GOP nominee and help defeat Obama...then maybe he’ll get a little respect.
If Newt appointed him Fed Chairman, I think Ron Paul would be his own agent. But, since Newt says he wants to fire Beranke- and he says he wants to audit the Fed-—then there would seem to be no reason to interfere with Paul’s audit.
I think Paul is rsponsible enough that he is not going to release findings (w/o consultation) that might dramtically effect the economy— but ultimately,I think he would expect that his findings be addressed in an orderly process.
I think it would be a good thing.
I am beginning to feel much better about Pauls' chances, still a long shot for sure but other than Newt, Paul is the only anti-establishment constitution government guy in the race. Mitt is not going to win (I hope) Santorum might, but I doubt it so that leaves Newt or Paul. I am a happy camper.
Same mistake Republicans make....you think they won’t compromise and will actually return the country to a constitutionally limited government.
Republicans can be just as “brainwashed” as Paulbots are...they follow whatever their leaders say as long as there is a “R” next to the leader’s name.
If Republicans believe in half of what they say, theyll
nominate a true conservative instead of the typical moderate, establishment type.
Defeating Obama is definately a very valid cause, but if the alternative is a liberal like Romney then how does that really help America in the long term?
” so I cited polls.”
No. You mentioned polls. You have cited zero polls. I asked for evidence to support your assertion. I have seen no consistent polling with Paul beating Obama...if you have a few, I’d love to see them.
Only Mittens and Ginrich consistently beat Obama....and they are the only two who win all 13 key swing states vs. Obama.
Don’t forget, Palin sez we shouldn’t alienate Paul’s Stormfront ‘Itbach al-Yahood!’ folks, either!
O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!
I think I’ve fallen through the Looking-Glass, here.
“Same mistake Republicans make....you think they wont compromise and will actually return the country to a constitutionally limited government.”
That statement could be true if you consider Obama returning the country to constitutionally limited government.
Paul can’t win. He can only go Turd Party and give it to Obama...and his moron cultist would follow him off the cliff to another Obama term, a victory that will give us ObamaCare to go with Social Security...one step closer to a Socialist death.

New Poll: Ron Paul Betters Other GOP Candidates Vs Obama
www.infowars.com/new-poll-ron-paul-betters-other-gop-candidates-...
Ron Paul has repeatedly said he will not run as a third party candidate.
“..his nutjob positions such as not having Israel as an ally and not caring if Iran gets nukes.”
FYI:

Yep, remember the “Broken Glass Republicans”? The people who would crawl thru broken glass to get their conservative candidate elected. Who would have thought they would now be called “Paultards” on FR?
Romney’s people don’t even seem that motivated, and he actually PAYS them!
My friends, you dont have to -- you dont need to do nation- building in Israel. Were already built.
You dont need to export democracy to Israel. Weve already got it.
And you dont need to send American troops to Israel. We defend ourselves.

You never know around here!
I never thought that I’d see the day when Ginrich would be called a conservative at FR, but with Obama as the point of comparison...
Are people suppose to care what these people think?
“Id be interested to know what chunk of our armed services support Paul, and why.”
I support him because of his respect for the constitution and his desire to reign in spending and the role of government. He is an original constructionist. Lots of neocons have a problem with that. I don’t support all of his foreign policy desires, but I support the past/current direction of our foreign policy even less. I think he would make no immediate and dramatic changes, but would incrementally change its direction in a positive way. Besides that, he would never abuse his power and overstep the authority of congress and the courts. That would go against who he is.
He is also really strong on 2A, property rights, all rights for that matter, and defunding out of control agencies.
I can’t tell you what I do, but if you knew you would be truly stunned. You would without hesitation shake my hand and buy me beer for my service.
I disagree about Perry. Everyone else has had a surge and then faltered.
I believe Santorum will be the next to do so.
It’s time for a Perry surge and if that happens, he won’t falter.
A lot of people do around here. They agree more with them on various issues.
Totally agree with her. Well said.
So have many people here, about his ECONOMIC policy (note in my original post I also pointed that out). Many here said he’d be a benefit to any R admin in some economic capacity. That doesn’t mean she or anyone else here would ever vote for Paul. His economic ideas are quite sound. He did a great job passing those on to his son. Am I know a Paulbot? I think 0bama seems like a great father. That’s a compliment. However, I have nothing nice to say about him otherwise and I think he’s done more to destroy this country than any single human being in my lifetime. See how that works? For heaven’s sake is the only way someone can remain “pure” is to never, ever, ever, ever, pay a compliment to someone everyone agrees should never be elected (or whatever else one is never supposed to think as deemed by some members of fr). If that’s the way it is then someone needs to post a list of things/people one is never supposed to mention (i.e. we all know Paul is the crazy uncle in the attic so we should never express appreciation for any of his ideas economic or otherwise).
Cindie
Thanks for posting this. It’s an “old school” FR thread, and I really miss those. Yeah, the furniture gets tossed around, but you get some good thought-provoking comments out of the crucible. Not the typical Ron Paul thread.
For later comments....
i find it interesting that the “old timers” here seem to be the most level-headed and educated in the Constitution. most everyone else seems to be running on emotion..
Everyone knows Sarah’s “opinions” make my head explode, just having to hear her grasp at the English language to get some dull low tier point over, but if she thinks she is in the FAUX KNOW on a third party threat, Ron Paul IS already the Third Party! He’s just hiding out in OUR party. It is becoming clear who his “supporters” are, we just don’t know how bad the number is. YET.
This should blow your mind. Wasn’t Sarah your first of five or so candidates you were rooting for?
Libertarians already have a guy running for president, saw him on TV tonight but don’t know his name...RP would make the 4th or 5th party...communists also run. Nader could also run on the green party....there are a lot more than 2 parties running, Nader always pulls from the democrats...
Going through your posts, you hate everyone other than Romney. Why should we take you seriously again?
He is running Third Party already. He’s hiding out in OUR party.
“but I sometimes wonder if she’s been thanked enough.”
no, she hasn’t, God bless her
thanks for your thoughtful comments.
I’m leaning towards the thought that Paul supporters are closer to the ‘Occupy’ crowd than the ‘Tea Party’ crowd.
You are correct, if you look at the political spectrum as running from total government on the left to zero government on the right, instead of the RNC/DNC version which goes from total government to total government, with a VERY MODEST degree of permitted liberty somewhere in the middle.
Warning! the gop establishment should quit pushing their rino candidates and alienating the Tea Party folks. Paul is absolutely insane.
I’m retired from the Marine Corps and I plan to vote for Dr. Paul. Many of my friends, also retired military, mostly Marine Corps, also plan to support and vote for him. Including a full bird Colonel whom I used to work for at Camp Pendleton. Does that help answer your question?
And no, I am no part of the weed vote, though I firmly believe we’d be far better served if the WOsD and the DEA/ATF/IRS, etc., were abolished, their agents jailed or executed and their buildings torn down and the land sown with salt.
I am awe-struck. As often as we’ve been odds before, here you go with something I am 100% with you on!
Ok, who are you and what have you done with the Colonel Kangaroo I’ve come to know and loathe??? :>)
Sorry Ms. Palin, Paul’s foreign policy alienates those who support him from those of us who’d like to see America survive and not be subjected to Iranian theocratic nuclear blackmail, or worse.
Line, sand. Paul needs to pick a side - because his “coexist” fantasy just doesn’t exist in realityland.
But beyond the atheism forum on Democratic Underground, almost nobody in our nation is politically wrong 100% of the time. I even found I could agree with Mr. Obama's decision when he pardoned the two turkeys at Thanksgiving.
Very well said... From one whose ancestors have also been here from the beginning (the Mayflower).
I thought Ron Paul voters were already an “alien nation?”
“I plan to vote for Dr. Paul. Many of my friends, also retired military, mostly Marine Corps, also plan to support and vote for him.”
That just proves you hand out with a bunch of loony veterans. I’m a sane veteran.
“Does that help answer your question?”
Your personal anecdote is an outlier. Most veterans support a strong military and are not big fans of appeasement on terrorism and Iran getting nukes.
So, no. You’re personal story is not inspiring but downright sad.
“wed be far better served if the WOsD and the DEA/ATF/IRS, etc., were abolished, their agents jailed or EXECUTED”
Executed eh? Yep, you’re a RonPaul loon alright.
Which two turkeys were they, Holder and Lieberman???
Your comments are duly noted, given the respect they deserve and flushed away like yesterday’s bowel movement. Thanks for playing.
So original.
Don’t you have some DEA agents to execute...lol
FruitLoops.
Statist. See, I can do it, too. It sure was nice of you to crawl out from under your rock and start the make-calling barbra streisand from your first post to folks who were trying to be civil. Which makes you the jerk-du-jour, I would say. Congrats, it surely is a well-earned award.
So you like civility?...I see.
Unless somebody would be a DEA or ATF agent, then you want them executed.
Too blinded to see your own ignorance.
Typical Paulian zombie
It was a pleasure.
