COLUMBUS, Ohio - The White Castle hamburger chain is sipping on the idea of selling alcoholic beverages at its restaurants. The 90-year-old company is testing beer and wine sales at a location in Lafayette, Ind., that combines a traditional White Castle burger joint with a Blaze Modern BBQ, a new restaurant concept also being tried out. In other cities, Columbus, Ohio-based White Castle is testing an Asian food concept and a restaurant that serves grilled sandwiches.

While they are at it maybe they could figure out how to get a White Castle in Northern Virginia!
It looks like they have Krystal in that area. Except for the exterior of the building, it's identical to White Castle.

The only difference I've noticed is that Krystal puts mustard on their burgers by default. I don't recall White Castle doing that.

I have been eating them for 50 years.
The day I lose my appetite for Castille de Blanc will be the day I die!

Sadly, we have no White Castle restaurants here in my corner of the world.. but we do have their famous burgers in delectable, microwaveable form in my supermarket's freezer section.

Take 'em home, nuke 'em and pop open a cold Sam Adams as accompaniment.

Sure: it lacks the visceral thrill of the rheumy-eyed 2am post-tavern hunger runs of my youth, but you can do it while watching football, and there's no chance of those sudden blue lights in the rear view...

I have been eating them for 50 years.
The people who don't like them must not have grown up hungry.
On my trip back to LI, I also went into Brooklyn (where I was born) to visit my grandfather's old house.
Not only very hungry, everyone in the car badly needed a bathroom stop.
As I finally found the street I was looking for, there was a new WC on the corner. Saved!!!

Krystal is in Western Virginia ~ about as far West as Cincinnati ~ long way to drive ~ we’ve got a White Castle closer than that in New Jersey.

True that! I love when the cheese all leaks out into the grease and you get served a hollow cheese shell, lol!

Trying to imagine the effects of WC and beer for the crop dusters in the mall. Ewww!

People actually eat the Oki Dog—two hot dogs on a flour tortilla, covered with chili pastrami, wrapped up like a burrito?

You forgot the cheese.
It’s served with a brown bag with about 2 lbs of fries too.

If it wasn’t for Oki Dog hundreds of musicians would have starved.
At least the one’s without stripper girlfriends.

When I was in high school (back when the earth was still cooling), we had a WC at the corner of Southfield and Grand River in NW Detroit. The site was notable in that cats and dogs were never seen. If we didn’t want the little onions and mustard, we told the clerk, “Easy on the maggots and hold the gold!” Don’t think I’ve had one since.

There was on on Lee Hwy in Arlington, right down from Cherrydale Lodge (AKA Cherrydale Hardware). Been gone since the seventies, I think - but the building is still there.
