Ron Paul would be at least as dangerous to our country as Barack Obama. Pauls policies would bring real damage to us from an outside enemy.
Actually the one good thing about a Paul presidency is the fact that congress would render him an ineffective figurehead at every turn.

and it seems foolish to argue that Freddie Mac didnt hire him as a consultant for his influence on public policy as a former Speaker. No one is buying the historian idea.
What Newt did was not illegal and nothing to do with the corruption ( which Frank and Dodd covered up )there.
What I don't like is the concept is wrong to begin with and Newt should not have supported it
No way banks should be giving mortgages to those not qualified under normal banking standards

“no way Paul is as bad as Obama”
When he guts our national defense and we reap those consequences; you will see how bad he is.

Our defense budget should be cut in half MINIMUM. We have 11 carrier groups - no other country has more than 1 and most of those are POS carriers.
I don’t understand conservatives who hate big government except for “big defense”. I am a conservative who says big defense is part of big government and also part of the problem.
We are broke, we have to cut spending in govt everywhere. And yes, that means, GASP. The military. We have 11 carrier groups, we don’t need to be on the ground everywhere. We have a great navy and air force. Bring our troops home and stop the invasion by mexico.
We are broke, we can project power with half the budget we have now. The military industrial complex is a beast unto itself.
I am a pure conservative. Big govt of any kind is bad.

Thats a fact. Every one of her attacks is based on less than the whole truth. Shes obviously not secure in her own qualifications and record.

What Paul doesn’t understand is that the Ayatollah Khomeini was downright moderate compared to the nutjubs running the show now.
They’re hellbent on bringing the Mahdi to earth by washing the world in blood. The Ayatollah thought they were psycho and kept them from having real power when he was alive and he was an evil bastard.

Paul is reduced to sputtering a non-sequitur about how wrong it is to declare war on 1.2 billion MuslimsThe Moslims declared war on us twice (in 1995 & 1998).

RE: The Moslims declared war on us twice (in 1995 & 1998).
Remind us again what the significance of those dates was...
Also, how does that refute the Ron Paul thesis that the Muslims hate us because we have been intruding on Middle East affairs for the longest time.

Ron Paul looks and sounds like he can’t find the light switch.

I don’t mind that you don’t like Paul..and I’m not exactly a full-blown supporter. That being said, When I listen to him, I don’t think he wants to gut our defense...I think last night he said he wants a strong national defense. I just don’t think he wants to be all over the world in hassles that amount to U.S. money being spent, our soldiers blood being spilled and yet it’s not a war.
I don’t have any doubt that Paul would go to war. But that’s the key..I think he will demand that troops be sent with a fully declared war.

I agree. That is pretty much what I heard him say..

Western "intrusion" into the Middle East has given those nations wealth and power with the only thing they have to offer the world: Oil.
Otherwise, they'd still be a collection of random, warring tribes, herding goats, and selling rugs/spices.

“We are being actively invaded by the country to the south, please explain how I am naive?”
OK, you are naive ( or just stupid) because you don't even know that lunatic Ron Paul could care less about that border and would do nothing to stop that invasion.
Face it, he is a brainless nitwit, gadfly, that belongs in a straight-jacket.

A strong defense is the only legitimate thing our government SHOULD be doing. I don't know how many carrier groups we need; I'll let the experts answer that one. But I do know our Navy now is much smaller than under Reagan.

We are broke, we can project power with half the budget we have now. The military industrial complex is a beast unto itself.
Two issues. 1) You say that you are just viewing our defense policy in terms of the Constitution, but then say that we should cut defense funding. Funding for the defense is pretty much one of the ONLY spending powers the Constitution allows. And 2) Defense funding has enabled MANY technologies to filter down to other sectors and is a HUGE boom to our economy as opposed to most of the other Government spending that occurs.
Should we cut ALL funding including defense? Sure, but not in half. No way. This is what Clinton did and it made us a weak target in the eyes of the islamists which continued to declare war on us with no reciprocal response by us.

I believe Ron Paul is referring to our unqualified support for Israel, “THE LITTLE SATAN” ( note the quotes ). This support for Israel ( Including helping arm her ) gives us the hated Middle Eastern monicker, “THE GREAT SATAN”.
In Paul’s eyes, the sooner we abandon Israel, the less chances of our being attacked...

You are correct. Ron Paul is a non-interventionist and as such, believes that open borders and free trade is the way to go.
