Texas Governor Rick Perry now trails President Obama by double digits in a hypothetical 2012 Election matchup.
A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey of Likely U.S. Voters finds Obama earning 46% support to Perry’s 34%. Fourteen percent (14%) prefer some other candidate, and seven percent (7%) are undecided. (To see survey question wording, click here.)
In early November, the president posted a 44% to 35% lead over Perry. In late August, just before Perry's first debate, he held a slight 44% to 41% advantage over the president. Since then, Perry has earned 34% to 39% support in matchups with the president, while Obama has picked up 43% to 49% of the vote.

Heck yeah. He is the most liberal of the group. Sure Romney and Newt are too but the three of them together would make the Democrats blush.
I wish that were the case, that he stands no chance. I don't share that level of confidence.
I wholeheartedly agree, but the headline implies Perry is the only candidate closest to Obama in the polls. Simply pointing out that fact. Polls do give us a good idea of trends, directions and to some degree, intensity of support for a candidate - which I consider relevant.
Let’s not overlook that the O is at only 46%. That is not good news for him.

I feel the same way Scott. But we have to remember that emotion is the mantra of the liberal left and even though it’s hard not to have fear now, it’s too early to make projections.
Alot can happen between now and November.
I’m going to be on my hands and knees often, praying that God will enlighten the electorate and help us remove this dangerous and evil regime.
Even so, what is scary is the potential for the Marxist and Co. to sail through this election period and claim victory through their usual dastardly and dishonest means: money laundering, thuggery, voter fraud and the like.
God help us all. It’s gonna be a tough year...

The way things are trending Perry may be destined to end up the President of Texas when worse goes to worse.
Ah, I see your point. You are correct, it is a misleading headline. It also reflects, I believe, that Perry’s national name ID is low, given that Gene Eric Republican has been polling much better than individual candidates.
Very good news! I predicted Perry would slowly rise in the polls and he has — and will. A lot of voters are already fed up and/or bored with the so-called front runners.
Naps, you will have to do better than this to make Perry supporters depressed.
It reflects no such thing. In his heyday Perry was leading Obama in Rasmussen (Sept. 1)
The problem is, he lost the “heartless” vote. There are many of us!

I am glad that we agree FINALLY. Yes Perry is liberal! I wonder why it took you so long to come to the conclusion. I had to work hard to get you to this point. I am proud of you for FINALLY seeing the light. No to Perry! You can be president of the club.
I’m not a career politician, just a humble voter. I get to choose what is offensive to me. And obviously, a lot of voters were offended by Perry’s comments, because he went from the clear frontrunner to near ZERO in record time.
Are you f’ing kidding me? First of all I called for him to be charged with treason. I did not say anything about his death. I said that he was dying on the vine. You owe me an apology. Seriously, you are reaching big time here.

This has been disputed so many times by many FREEPERS on here. Most of the jobs in Texas were given to illegal aliens.
