2012 Presidential MatchupsElection 2012: Obama 46%, Perry 34%
Rasmussen Reports ^ | 6 December 2011 | Rasmussen

Texas Governor Rick Perry now trails President Obama by double digits in a hypothetical 2012 Election matchup.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey of Likely U.S. Voters finds Obama earning 46% support to Perry’s 34%. Fourteen percent (14%) prefer some other candidate, and seven percent (7%) are undecided. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

In early November, the president posted a 44% to 35% lead over Perry. In late August, just before Perry's first debate, he held a slight 44% to 41% advantage over the president. Since then, Perry has earned 34% to 39% support in matchups with the president, while Obama has picked up 43% to 49% of the vote.

I didn’t want you to miss out on this one. Funny how you posted at least five stories about Perry but missed this one. I know it was an oversight. Well at least now you have it.

Not a Perry supporter (although I’ll vote for a cockroach in the general election to get rid of Commissar Zero), but seriously WTF is wrong with people in this country???

You have to remember something about reading these polls: When the incumbant doesn’t poll at least 50% against the challenger, he would probably lose to that challenger because most of the undecideds, in this case 20% of those polled, have already decided against the incumbant.

But even Perry is ahead of Bachmann in that poll, and is tied with Santorum.

Didn’t want you to miss that.

He’s rising in the polls. Give it a couple of weeks. It will improve :)

I fear the tipping point has been reached. Obama apparently doesn't need to continue hiding his true marxist self anymore. Check out his speech in Kansas yesterday:

I don’t see how any poll pitting any republican against Obama has much validity. Once the Republican nominee is determined, I suspect the majority of us will reluctantly hold our collective noses and pull the “anyone but Obama” lever.

Weren’t you the one repeatedly calling for somebody to kill Governor Perry?

Prove that. Perry does not mean enough to me for even thinking that. You had better come up with some serious proof of those libelous words.

They are buying into obama's class warfare.

It’s amusing to see the interest of the anti Perry crowd in someone that has fallen so far in the polls that he’s not more than a small blip on the screen.

There must be something about Perry that scares them for them to worry and spend time about someone that’s basically not in the picture at this time. Isn’t that interesting.

Very encouraging news for all of us, when you think that many people aren’t yet focused on the 2012 race and haven’t a clue who’s running or who Rick Perry is, yet he’s competitive with the incumbent. He is likely to be one of the last three standing after the herd is winnowed in the early primaries.

Great News ! Obama under 50% means any of the potential Republicans have a good shot. Thanks!

Look at the rest of the field in the Rasmussen report:

As of November 28-29 Gingrich is the only GOPer in the field beating the Marxist, 45% to 43% - No other candidate is tied or beating Obummer. But Romney and Gingrich are certainly within the MOE.

They must be afraid Perry’s could come back to do this kind of push poll.

So what if Perry loses big? As long as he isn’t Romney.

Barry knows in his heart that he stands no chance of winning re-election so now the gloves and mask come off. He said “Its time to step on the gas” and I’m sure he will. He will try for any opportunity to gin up an emergency to declare martial law and suspend the elections. Count on it.

I’m not a fan of national matchups when the candidates are not yet determined. There’s still a 20% not Perry, not Obama group, which is too big of an unknown to make a reasonable conclusion.
