STATE COLLEGE, Pa (Reuters) - The lawyer for the Penn State football coach charged with child sex abuse said in an interview on Monday the boy at the center of a 2002 incident detailed in the grand jury's report had been identified and said it never happened.

Jerry Sandusky, the former defensive coordinator for the Penn State Nittany Lions, was arrested more than a week ago on charges he sexually abused eight young boys over a 15-year period.

Speaking to sportscaster Bob Costas, Joe Amendola, who represents Sandusky, said "we anticipate we're going to have at least several of those kids come forward and say, 'This never happened.'"

Sandusky, in a telephone interview with Costas that aired at the same time, acknowledged he had horsed around and showered with children involved in the Second Mile charity he founded.

But he denied he was a pedophile.

Do you consider this a state or federal issue? Do we like in many other areas of criminal law need to federalize this area? Are you a conservative?

Speaking as someone in SEC football country, this scandal has finally freed us from having to hear announcers lecture us for the 5000th time about what a paragon of integrity Joe Paterno is and how no other college program is, ever was, or ever will be as clean as Penn State. “Thank God Almighty, we’re free at last.”

I’m doubt those observations really assuage the pain of family members and victims.

What family members? You don’t think Sandusky would abuse boys that came from regular families? He made sure these boys had no parents.

Please do tell me what person is not outraged by the allegations, if true?

What you are missing was that except for the 1998 and 2002 allegations, (which so far we only know Schultz -- the head of campus police -- knew about, and no one else) there was no connection between the principal actors in this case. The only connecting link in all of them was Jerry Sandusky.

The 1998 incident was not actionable. The 2002 incident may or may not have been accurately described to Schultz. So there is no "corruption" or "extent."

Obama has made it a federal issue by legitimizing homosexuality in the military. Since homosexuality relies upon recruitment to further their agenda, pedophilia is one of their most encouraged campaigns, albeit unspoken in public.

What did I glaze over? Victims 1-8 (so far)... anal sex, oral sex, hands jobs, all with children. Two employees of the university eye-witnessing sex acts with children. I’ve read every word of it. Go ahead, convince me there’s even the remotest possibility that all of these people are independently colluding to frame Jarry Sandusky. Please. Make the case for reasonable doubt. I’m listening.

I’ve seen the ugly cult mentality. Ohio State is the same.

It is foolish to believe a child will never have a family in their lifetime, even if they were orphans.

When/if you read the Grand Jury presentments, more than one victim has claimed behavior by Sandusky common to the incidents when the child tried to shower further away from Snadusky. These victims also testified that Sandusky committed sexual assault on them. Now, some of the same people who are touting the veracity of Herman Cain's accusers are pleading we should not believe the children Sandusky victimized. Something really smells rancid with a few of these posters trying to dissemble what is in the Grand Jury Presentments.

One further note: Sanduskuy is the only legitimate source for the names of those he victimized, since the names have been sealed by the court, so the sleazy lawyer who had NBC's help tonight issued a threat that other victims could be 'outed' soon. NBC is as low on the gutter scale as any traiters to American could be. But those trying to defend this sexual predator and his sleazy lawyer are pushing for vermin status.

Or a mother who is too f’d up on crack to care, and a father who doesn’t even know who his son is....those are the youths Sandusky targeted.

Again with the rumors, though not surprising considering the quality of your posts. He's not in "witness protection."

As for the rest of your silly reply, a "whistleblower" is someone who calls a halt to a corrupt or illegal practice in an organization by courageously coming forward. McQueary did not do that or anything remotely resembling that.

The whistleblower in this case is a very brave kid at Central Mountain High School. McQueary didn't blow the whistle on anything; he complied with a subpoena, at which point he may or may not have told the GJ a self-serving lie.

“I’m doubt those observations really assuage the pain of family members and victims.”

I can not imagine a more leftist response. You make my case about this. Again is this a federal issue to you or is it a state criminal matter? Or as the lefty you are does the existence of victims trump everything else and we should spend an infinite amount of tax payer money?

There are victims, Paterno must go. There are victims, Paterno’s name must be removed from the BIg 12 football trophy. There are victims, the federal government must step in. There are victims, we must rush to judgement. There are victims, there can be no cross examination of witnesses to see if the victims actually are victims.

You spout the Dim line exactly. Again this is why we end up with more and more and more and more government.

I think the evidence gathered regarding Sandusky’s pursuit of Victim 1 will be very powerful. The boy entered high school and tried to end contact with Sandusky, but Sandusky aggressively stalked him via numerous calls to his home, showing up at his school and having him called out of study hall to meet with him, etc. This is stalker behavior imo, and adds credence to his claims, which include the wrestling coach’s eye witness account of finding them lying face to face together in the weight room “practicing wrestling moves” according to the startled Sandusky.

There is ONE eyewitness, and there is hearsay. Nice try.

I see. The winningest coach of all times knows nothing of pertinence about his team members.

OK, have it your way.

Paterno was simply an incompetent lucky fellow. One who happened to facilitate criminal behavior of his juniors unknowingly, for over a decade, due to his lack of wherewithal, and still nobody really knows about it. /s

As I have said in several posts, I am not defending Sandusky at all. It is up to Sandusky to defend himself, but he has that right. The founders of this country particularly Jefferson and Madison felt it was important that he have that right.

You’ve already dismissed the janitor who reported Victim 8? On what basis?

The hypocrisy of people believing Herman’s accusers and defending Sandusky is no different from those doubting his accusers and assuming Sandusky’s guilt.

Same bullshit, different angle.

We might make the analogy that Mike Nifong also had a Grand Jury, and many of the FReepers who refused to believe that indictment are all too willing to claim every word in the current document is Gospel.

As for the vermin crap, if everyone who won't join your lynch mob is vermin, then, yeah, I'm vermin. This is not evidence. This is an accusation. That's all. No evidence has been heard by any trier of fact in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
