Ah, but that would put a limit on how many illegals and foreign students they could admit!! That is in great part why7 tuitions and fees are so high. Couple that with the fact that they are being made liable for unpaid student loans, and must keep up their racial quotas so they have to hire remedial teachers to bring students up to college level. Used to be if you didn’t pass your sats or the college entrance exam, or high school reading or math, you didn’t get in. This is progressive policy.

Exactly.

By reducing the required minimum payment, the interest will accumulate over a longer period, and the lenders will be making even more money on these loans.

He’s on his way out and he’s desperate to get it all through before he’s run out of our country.

It has been government involvement that made college educations cost 4 times as much today as they cost in 1985.

When any breathing body can secure a loan to go to college, what incentive is there for the colleges to control costs?
What is the value of that college education when the market is flooded with college applicants?

Rick Perry was talking about a $10,000 BA degree. That sounds about right as to what they should cost.

This is Obama's vote-buying sop to the Occupy Wall Street students, hippies and commies across the country. They're going to claim this as a tremendous victory for their mob actions.

I think I'll pitch a tent in my front yard, install a porta-potty by the curb...... then maybe he'll help me out with my mortgage, maybe even a subsidized cruise if I raise a red and black, clenched-fist, power-to-the-people flag on a wooden laundry-line pole.

Your kids are using thier brains and it’s a pity that these other kids don’t realize just how better it would be for them if they had a solid work ethic in addition to schooling. Working through school will impress employers more than spedning four years living like an aristocrat or trust fundie on student loans. A degree is all well and good, but it has to be backed up with a good work background, the work background being the ‘meat’ of the resume more than anything. If more kids worked in the area of their major (if possible), then by the time they get their degree, they will have everything they need in order to become a success all their own. They won’t have to work as hard as they do now to get a solid job.

“Rick Perry was talking about a $10,000 BA degree. That sounds about right as to what they should cost.”

A degree should not cost more than a certification program. Certifications cost up to twelve thousand and show that you have a credential and know what you’re doing, the same as a degree. A certification in business in Michigan costs up to a little over three thousand with an international business trade certification costing two thousand or slightly over. Why blow a hundred thousand on a business degree when a certificate works just as well and also at the same time, will gain you the credential a lot sooner than four year?

True. Remedial college courses should be an oxymoron.

impeachment is the remedy. Another way to halt such dictatorial actions is to start defunding agencies.

So it's just a reduction in the maximum repayment as a percent of annual income and a consolidation program? I don't see anyone’s loans being paid off for them, just less interest and longer repayment periods. That really doesn't seem like the end of the world to me in an economy with 9.1% unemployment.

Is it true that the government student loan program has much higher interest rate than private lending agencies offered before the takeover?

My current interest rate on competitively bid private student loans taken out in 2005 and 2006 is 2.36%. I'm not sure what the new government monopoly offers, but I'm guessing at least 6%.

It amazes me how liberals believe that monopolies offer better services at lower costs than a competitive market.
