It's wrong to call Perry a racist
Star-Telegram ^ | October 4, 2011 | Bob Ray Sanders

Posted on 10/09/2011 12:16:16 AM PDT by Cincinatus' Wife

I will not make a habit of defending Gov. Rick Perry. I promise.

It would not be in either of our best interest -- certain to cause some of his supporters on the right to question further his conservative credentials, and most assuredly making my liberal friends wonder about my sanity.

For some it was bad enough that I recently commended our governor for his stance on providing a college education (at in-state tuition prices) for noncitizen children of illegal immigrants. It's one of the few things Perry and I agree on.

But the latest brouhaha surrounding suggestions of Perry's racial insensitivity forces me once again to rise to his defense.

Believe me, as a native Texan who happens to be black and whose roots go back 150 years in the Lone Star State, I know racism as well as anyone in this country. And I've never been one to shy away from denouncing those who exhibit racist attitudes or tolerate bigoted behavior. For several years, I taught a course at Texas Christian University called "Race, Gender and the Mass Media."

Combine that experience with decades of observing American politics, and perhaps no one is more qualified than I to make this pronouncement: Rick Perry is not a racist. That is, no more than any other American shaped by his/her national, regional, cultural, ethnic and religious influences.

Let's put this notion to rest immediately because, as we say in Texas, that dog won't hunt, not even on the plains of northwest Texas where Perry shared a lease on 1,000 acres.

They done been vetted. I wanted Sarah, but she has other things in mind. Coulda gone with Bachmann, but she needs more seasoning. Only Cain is left to fit the bill. No gubmint experience, but he’s got private sector and business experience which is his “executive” experience. He’s off the charts smart, too. Too bad we can’t have him and Col. West from Florida. The media and the elites couldn’t handle having that much intelligence and that much balls in charge.

The issue of race in this country is so Orwellian it almost defies definition. We have race political & lobbying groups for any and all non white groups particularly blacks, we have race groups (except for whites) for almost any social cause imaginable, we have affirmative action, quota’s & set asides, we have African American studies, BET and many other race specific programs & institutions, we have black flash mobs, black panthers, Eric Holder and ‘his people’, Rev Wright and ‘God Damn America’, rap music and the proliferation of degeneration and unfettered ‘rap’ of the word ‘nigger’, 70% unwed mother, urban crime & violence and a list that goes on almost forever. We have ethnocentric black politicians and TV pundits from Jesse Jackson Jr to Al Rev Sharpton YET whenever something such as this comes up the press succeeds in whipping up whites to pointing fingers at each other over who is the most racist meanwhile ignoring the very racist nature of many/most blacks and other non whites and the destruction such is having on this nation. In very Marxist fashion race is being crammed up our rear end and being used as a battering ram to destroy our fabric and all most of the founding stock of this nation can seem to do is help them.

I notice his attempt to rape hotel masseuses has been suppressed by the media.

What an ape!

Victim grievance groups, it's what the Democratic Party is composed of.

He’s so ronery, y’know. Of course, you’d think he’d be able to bed some young and stupid Globaloney Warming groupies without a problem. Perhaps they’re not quite as desperate for Manbearpig’s throbbing thrillhammer.

Newt is too damaged. Multiple marriages, cozying up to the rodentry and the liberal establishment (holding hands with Miss Nancy), sandbagging Conservatives over crap like his Scuzzyflavor endorsement. Just stupid.

You didn’t answer the question. Are you afraid of a Conservative Black man as President ?

We already have a "conservative" black man in the WH. Remember that Obama ran as a conservative democrate. Neither one of them had a track record of voting to back up their words, both of them began being worshiped abroad (Obama in Germany and Cain in Japan). You can call yourself whatever you want, you can say all the right words, but if you have nothing to back it up then it's too big a gamble.

This is an endosement of sorts by Newt Ginrich.

Sarah Palin and Newt Gingrich have endorsed Rick Perry in the past.

Herman Cain had endorsed Mitt Romney.

Herman Cain had endorsed Mitt Romney.

July 2011:......"Mr. Cain on Monday became the first of Mr. Romney’s nine declared and potential nomination rivals to say publicly and explicitly something long whispered: namely, that the former Massachusetts governor’s Mormonism is an obstacle too big to overcome in the most solidly Republican region in the country. The South has a high concentration of evangelical Protestants, many of whom doubt the legitimacy of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

“Romney would be a good choice, but I don’t believe he can win,” Mr. Cain told editors and reporters of The Washington Times.

.....his religion. It doesn’t bother me, but I know it is an issue with a lot of Southerners.” Source

******************

Lord love a duck.

Cain says that geographical and religious associations make one intolerant, then calls Perry "insensitive" on race and sucks up to Romney.

Did I leave anything out?

I think Perry PROVES he’s not a racist, given his love for Illegal Aliens here in Texas...who are predominately Hispanic.

The racism charge was unfair.

The WP is determined to smear. Perry is moving on. This is a dead horse. The article for this thread cuts the legs out of the WP non story.

Ah, now I see who you are supporting. With supporters like you and the comments you make, you will be sinking Cain in the arena of opinion.
