You Mods needs to step up to the plate regarding poster politicizing these fires.

Not very becoming for FReepers to look like scumbags to the rest of the world.

If you want me to name names, I will.

I feel sorry for Sarah Palin. She has a few foam mouth frothing lunatics like Diogenesis and Freeangel who are hurting her cause at FR. Many of her faithful, are nice patriotic folks, but there are also several who are frankly nothing more like cult members.

I’m a Rick Perry supporter...But I think he is unprepared on “the issues”. The national and foreign issues. He is afraid of bungling an answer. Of giving the liberals a “gotcha” moment. So he’s skipping this debate. Perry is very busy as governor. He knows Texas backwards and forwards but not the rest of the country. Give him time to get edumacated and he’ll do just fine in debate and taking on Bammy Boy who he can whip by an easy 15 points

Mitt Romney has no day job so has lost of free time to study up. He is well versed in any question that might be thrown at him in this debate

Good for him. He is still Governor, he seems to remember that. Admirable.

So you’re attacking Palin for leaving midterm to fulfill a personal agenda that had nothing to do with protecting the citizens of Alaska??? That is a straight up lie.

But a governor leaving mid-term to fulfill a personal agenda is EXACTLY WHAT PERRY IS DOING. He lied to the people of TX and said if they re-elect him, he wouldn’t run for President. That makes him a liar. No, I’m not out to attack Perry here, just calling you out on your hypocrisy re: Palin.

Upwards of 10,000 people have been evacuated and 100s of homes have been lost including at least 3 family/friends of mine.

Other than words of comfort or prayer, save WHATEVER comments you have about Texas or Perry for another day.

Do you get a lot of help to come up with your comments?

Don’t know where you are from but Texas is in a very very bad way with the drought. The whole state is like a tender box. The number of homes lost here is on par with any season California has ever had.

The lame stream media has just covered the natural disaster under way and worsening here for the last year.

Piss off.

Why is it that any criticism of Perry makes one a Palinbot or Paulbot? And, why is it that any mention, of Perry by his supporters, is honorific to the point of worship? Whether Palin runs or not is immaterial. While the rest of us find it admirable that you Texans would support a man, who as governor, apparently, represents you well; he ain’t our governor and he ain’t our president yet! If your candidate can’t take this kind of criticism or scrutiny then he ain’t sturdy enough to be POTUS.

No it's not a lie. Palin ran when she was confronted. Your denial or refusal to acknowledge that doesn't make it less true. She was elected for a full term, and fulfilled a half term. I am not talking about her running as McCain's VP, I am talking about her not fulfilling her first and only term as Governor of Alaska to do TV and enrich her pocketbook.

Perry has been Governor of Texas for 10 years and Lt. Governor before that. He loves Texas. He saw a need at the National level and threw his hat in the ring.

No you are WRONG! Perry is being paid to be Governor year round.

If he had any decency he would resign.

I hear ya. I've had (4) 100 year old oaks die in my front yard. Others are barely hanging on. Every blade of grass is dead. It's all I can do to keep the few shrubs we have alive because of watering restrictions.

I've been feeding and watering the deer that wander all over the neighborhood just looking for a place to cool down.

I've lived in Texas for over 40 years and never seen anything like it. Unless you've been here you wouldn't even recognize the place.

The rub on this particular thread is that a few a the backers of a particular candidate who go thread to thread insulting Perry like a pollinating bee picked the wrong one to be do their dirty work.

It’s wildfire season in Texas. Updates are available at The Texas Forest Service website. Wildfires in Texas aren’t a new event. And this season didn’t just begin this weekend.

I think Perry had a motivation to avoid DeMint’s forum, but I don’t think it was Texas wildfires. Since Texas wildfires were raging when Perry left for SC. Below is a report from the TFS on Wednesday.

Wildfire Update – Aug. 31, 2011

Current situation:

· Texas Forest Service responded yesterday to new large fires in Palo Pinto, Edwards, Kimble, Sutton, Howard, Menard and Hall counties.

· We’re currently responding to nine large fires that have burned 16,285 acres.

· National Guard dozers, as well as Blackhawk and Chinook helicopters, are assisting with the fire responses.
