Why wouldn’t the defense celebrate.
For the past eight weeks the world has proclaimed (me included) that they were bungling idiots.
They showed us.
If I were them I would be celebrating like I won the superbowl.
Half a million is a verry low floor, just for the defense.
I didn’t think you had evil intent. I thought perhaps you were caught up in vicious gossip. Obviously not. I don’t know what to think about Murphy’s assertions.
Remember who sits on a jury. Those that are too stupid to figure out how to get out of it.

For the three juries I’ve sat on, you had to get 100% of the jury to agree. And it was, in this state at least, beyond a reasonable doubt. The defense has to prove nothing. The state has to prove it all.

This jury is the worse. However, they come from the same community that thought Terri Schiavo should have no water or other nourishment. I guess in their minds it was a late abortion and Casey should have the right to be free from motherhood.

I did not bother to read the article that you are referring to, Wendy Murphy, is she the lawyer from MA? If so, she has no credibility. She also swore up and down that the woman in the Duke rape case was telling the truth and we all know how that turned out, even after we found out the truth Wendy Murphy was still saying those guys were 100% guilty.
I know that the phrase is different from one state to the next. I am no lawyer, but my guess is that he is quoting the Florida “phraseology.”

The spokesman for Casey Anthony’s defense attorney isn’t who he says he is.
Todd Black told the Orlando Sentinel on Thursday that Todd Black isn’t his real name, and he wouldn’t give his true identity.
Black — whose news releases triggered a recent Florida Bar investigation into Anthony’s attorney, Jose Baez — said his last name is an “abbreviated” form he’s used professionally in the past.
Gil Cabot, apparently a bi-coastal expert in adverse media coverage, albeit his own, is probably not the best representative for Mr. Baez’s office as “Gil Cabot”. The elusive and camera shy, newest alter-ego of Gil Cabot bursts into the Big Top. No clown car arrival as apparently there really is a limit as to how many aliases can fit in there at once. Gil was just plain Gil for his stints in the big house in the late 80’s and 90’s for grand theft and attempted extortion of Entertainment Tonight’s Jann Carl during a meeting. His criminal file also reflects the alias Jerome Bradley.
