ROME Italian Premier Silvio Berlusconi told a visiting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu exactly what he wanted to hear Monday, rejecting recognition of a Palestinian state by the U.N. General Assembly and insisting peace must come through negotiations.
Netanyahu was in Italy to rally European opposition to plans by the Palestinians to ask the U.N. to recognize a Palestinian state in September. Israel, backed by the U.S., opposes such a move, saying it will only push peace farther away.
Berlusconi echoed Netanyahu when asked about the U.N. statehood recognition at a press conference following the signature of several bilateral agreements.
"We don't believe a unilateral solution can help peace," Berlusconi said. "I believe peace can only be reached with a common effort, that is, with negotiations."
Italy is one of Israel's closest friends in Europe, a fact stressed by both leaders Monday. "We have no better friend," Netanyahu told the Italian leader.

Netanyahu also warned about the risk Iran poses if it acquires nuclear weapons and the continued uncertainties about the final results of the string of popular uprisings in the Arab world.
“It’s not obvious where the Arab Spring will go, but I will say this, that if Iran develops nuclear weapons, the Arab Spring could well turn into an Iranian winter,” Netanyahu said.
Exactly, and I believe PM Netanyahu is sending a message to Zer0.
He was mocking Obama’s statements about the US having “no better friend” than France.
If he’s smart, he’ll go to France and Ireland next. Ireland was the first to recognize a Jewish State, and France armed Israel’s creation.
Has he want Italy to bomb them?
Nuclear Winter, Iranian Winter...same result.
I think you're right. When Netanyahu mocks Obozo he does it with so much class it flies right over a lot of heads and straight to its intended target. He's so crafty, he makes it almost impossible for the MSM (or Obozo) to publicly take issue with him.
If hes smart, hell go to France and Ireland next. Ireland was the first to recognize a Jewish State, and France armed Israels creation.
Awesome ideas! I hope that's exactly what he does.
Hmmmm..... it seems that Netanyahu just told Muslim loving Obama to stuff his “ultimatum” up his White hating Black a—.
That's been true for decades. obama is just working to make it official.
Israel will be fine without the US, as long as we Christians remember our obligation to see to the security of that nation.
At some point in the future, we may be called upon to provide financial aid, and considering that the Israelis are surrounded by a billion-plus godless savages bent on their destruction, they may need soldiers to come to their aid also.
I sure hope that when the time comes, enough of us are willing and able to provide the help needed to preserve the only civilized nation in that part of the world.
Good one... LOL

"What the F**k Was That?"
In Europe, you can count our friends on one hand these days, so it doesn’t really say much. As for the North American continent, what you say. Canada’s been pretty friendly lately.
*snort* [giggles] ROFL! The guy can't do a single dang thing right. He excels at nothing.
Maybe, and it might come to that. Europe is second in line behind Israel with regard to feeling the greatest threat from a nuclear Iran. And considering that the IAEA is finally talking some sense (saying that Iran may be capable in as little as a couple months), who knows what details Netanyahu and Berlusconi are discussing.
It would offset global warming.
