According to the May Nielson ratings, The Daily Show with Jon Stewart beat the entire Fox News network in terms of total viewers. Stewart averaged 2.3 million viewers, while the Fox News prime time and day time line up averaged 1.85 million viewers.

According to Comedy Central, The Daily Show is dominant in its time slot,

For the month of May 2011, “The Daily Show” averaged 2.3 million total viewers and a 1.2 P18-49 rating. Versus May 2010, “The Daily Show” grew an astounding +19% in total viewers, with incredible double-digit ratings growth across all key demos including P18-49 (up +21%), P18-34 (+22%), P18-24 (+21%), M18-34 (+18%) and M18-24 (+21%).

“The Daily Show’s” 1.344 million P18-49 viewers led all late night talk shows in the demo for the month and, with a 2011 YTD average of 1.25 million P18-49 viewers, “The Daily Show” trails only “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” (1.27 million P18-49 viewers) in the benchmark demographic for the calendar year crown.

Maybe Fox should spend less time getting rid of Glenn Beck, promoting BOR, keeping the repeating Hannity, and going more liberal as they do everyday.

I turn on the “comedy” channel in my bedroom at 11:00. By the time I SSNbrushmyteeth, Colbert is finally on and he can be funny. Stewart isn’t worth watching - snarky liberal stone thrower.

I wonder why the article didn't compare how The Daily Show stacks up to CNN and PMSNBC, only Fox News?

I wonder why the article didn't compare how The Daily Show stacks up against the local news combined since they are on at the same time. If the Daily Show is pulling in less than 2 million versions, out of 300 million Americans, I'm sure more than 2 million are watching their local news.

It's a reflection of Rupert Murdoch and Fox News' parent corporation. They care only about money, and Murdoch is laughing all the way to the bank about how he convinced people he supported conservatives. They pimp garbage like Avatar and Glee to our youth, and even use Fox News to promote it, so nothing surprises me any more.

Oh believe me if I want to get news I go to Fox . I don’t even know where CNN and MSNBC are on the schedule.

I just have a hard time with some of the anchors that are obviously in the tank for the lefties. F&F is always reliable.

Yeah I heard the promos for that.
I didn’t see it, due to my dislike of O’Really.
Both him and Stewart on one show was to much for me.

Right now I am totally engrossed in the anthony Murder Trial.
Maybe when they finally put her on Death Row I will have a fresher outlook of the shows on Fox.
But Whorealdo’s unbelievable shilling for the defense and that idiot defense attorney makes me furious.

The first time I saw Fox News I was amazed at the contrast with other TV “news”, the lack of leftist bias was immediately obvious. I even said that it was biased in favor of the right just as all the others were biased in support of the left. Now it doesn’t seem all that different from CNN, Tony Snow is gone, Shep is a bigger joke every time I see him. Is Geraldo still on Fox? I haven’t watched it recently enough to know for sure but I never figured out why they would give that clown a slot. Hannity is just Hannity, I used to listen to him sometimes on radio but it is a waste of time now. Krauthammer had me convinced of his brilliance for a little while but he is slipping too much to the left the last time I watched him.

The real problem for me is how much they leave out, they don’t cover half the things they should cover.

According to my studies Frederick Austerlitz was actually known as Fred Astaire. The actor known as Eddie Albert was born Edward Albert Heimberger and the actor and singer known as Edward Albert was actually Eddie Albert’s son.

So the “Daily Show” averaged 2.3 million viewers?

Coincidentally, that is almost exactly the number of FOX NEWS’ primetime viewers in the latest tally - which was this Thursday:

2.24 million viewers.

Bill O’Reilly eclipsed Jon Steward by several hundred thousand, at 2.8 million the latest day tallied, which was Thursday of this week.

"who watches?"

The under 35 males. My son is at CU Boulder. It's the one show everybody watches there. Sad but true.

It makes perfect sense. Most people who watch the daily show think it’s comedy, not politics. Same with shows like Saturday Night Live. The left are masters at using the entertainment media to insert their message into the brains of idiots.

You know, I must say, I love Fox! Yes, it’s far from perfect, but in my mind it’s the only game in town. I just keep in mind that they have to maintain some semblance of being “fair and balanced”, and if that takes putting up with some guests who are far from desirable, or reporting that is a tad left of center, then so be it. I just cannot stand any other TV news outlets.

I’m with you...I’d rather listen to fistion books on my ipod than listen to the other news channels, they are that bad, and that boring.

“Sort of bogus results comparing an average of many shows to one show.”

DING-DING-DING—we have a winner!

They were at least somewhat transparent about it in the article, though. First they noted Fox had a really, really bad May. Then they noted that head-to-head, O’Reilly beats Stewart. Of course, to be fair, they don’t actually note it’s head-to-head, either. In reruns, of course Stewart beats O’Reilly—the latter’s older demographic works and has to sleep.

It is funny at times but it’s propaganda unlike anything we’ve seen in history. The court jester who hates God is now a “News Source”.

All “Americans” need to make sure this is off their tivo as this is where they measure from. We are giving power to the enemies of our freedom...and laughing.

"...while the Fox News prime time and day time line up averaged 1.85 million viewers."

Funny how they didn't compare CNN/MSNBC prime time and day time line up of shows or Comedy Centrals stellar prime time and day time line up of shows like "Tosh.0" "RENO 911" and "Always Sunny in Philadelphia" with Fox's lineup?

Think that might have lowered the numbers in Jon Stewart’s s favor

Naw, they wouldn't do that, would they?
