....Like many people who go on to alter history, for good and evil, Bin Laden lost his father when he was about 9. The family patriarch was killed in a plane crash caused by an American pilot in the Saudi province of Asir. (Five of the Sept. 11 hijackers would come from that province. His brother was later killed in a plane crash on American soil.)

Osama was an extremely shy child, Coll writes. He was an outsider in his new family but also the golden goose. His allowance and inheritance was the source of his family’s wealth.

He lived a suburban existence and was sent to an elite school, wearing a blue blazer and being taught by European teachers. As a boy he watched “Bonanza” and became infatuated by another American show called “Fury,” about a troubled orphaned boy who goes off to a ranch and tames wild horses.

Brooks has jumped the shark so many times that I've gotten tired of noticing, but this column painting a sympathetic portrait of a heinous mass murderer is just about the weirdest and most pathetic piece of American journalism I've encountered in some time.

Brooks seems to have gotten them confused in a way that I'd almost call deliberate, if it weren't so inappropriate from Brooks’ perspective (an Obama stooge of huge and embarrassing proportions).

Particularly the part about a confused fatherless boy trying to find is way in the world.

The whole column is bizarre and creepy.

Back about 2002 someone posted a photo of the Ben Laden clan on vacation to Sweden. One young teen there was Osama.

It may have come from the STAR or some other British newspaper that publishes news we don’t get from our MSM.

Of course there have been so many weird attempts on Hitler’s life that failed due to flukes one has to wonder if this is proof of time travel and people trying to kill him in the past????

In Vienna in 1920 you would have met an impostor. Hitler was already in Germany by 1913. He lived in Vienna until about then.

Your other problem would be whether the “psychic” defense would fly outside of California. “Well, I had to kill him because he was going to be a mass murderer in 30 years.”
