Ten United Nations staff were murdered - two by beheading - after extremists stormed their compound in northern Afghanistan today.

Protesters broke into UN offices in the northern city of Mazar-i-Sharif after a demonstration against Koran burnings in the America turned violent.

A small breakaway group attacked the UN compound, throwing stones and climbing on blast barriers to try to gain entry. They seized weapons from guards and opened fire before storming the site.

An Afghan police source, who asked not to be named, said the chief of the mission in the city was wounded but survived.

Among those murdered were Norwegian, Romanian, Swedish and Nepalese nationals. Two were decapitated, it is understood.

A UN spokesman confirmed that workers had been killed at the mission, but he said the situation on the ground was still confusing and it was difficult to 'ascertain facts'.

Staffan De Mistura, the top UN representative in Afghanistan, was heading to Mazar-i-Sharif to handle the matter personally, he added.

Over a thousand demonstrators had flooded into the streets of the normally peaceful city after Friday prayers, where they heard reports about the Koran burnings in America last month.

That conclusion is based on the information that he deferred carrying out the action initially when asked by the Obama regime and then performed it.

This article doesn’t specify his rationale, and I would like to read it.

His real intent was to increase his Sunday collections during the offering

Nonsense. The conclusion is based on specious reasoning that seeks to appease the savage barbarian by condemning the civilized protester.

Deferring the original plan doesn’t say a damn thing about why he later proceeded.

So, do you know what his reasonings were? If he didn’t realize the crap-storm that might result, has he been living on Mars?

For all we know, just posting a thread here on FR that mocks Islam could result in the same thing happening.

Do you have any idea what his “Sunday collections” were threatened with by the local authorities if he proceeded with his original plan?

He is a United States citizen.

It doesn’t frickin’ matter what his reasonings were. And if his actions make more obvious the UN is trying to treat these animals like normal people...so much the better!

So you would grant a veto over the legal actions of US citizens, based on the demands of foreign murderers and religious fanatics? That would make you an enemy of freedom and democracy in the truest sense of the term.

When George Bush called Islam, the religion of Peace, he was misunderstood. It’s not Peace, it’s Piece. And he forgot the ‘s’, that’s all.

Yep. True as the day is long...

Could just be sexually repressed. Burning anyone’s religious books is just plain dumb and serves no purpose but this reaction is obviously insane.

Look, very few people knew the ‘religion’ was basically evil back at 9/11.

Huh?

Radical Islamists had been perpetrating terrorist attacks against the US since Reagan's time, by the time of 9/11. We certainly DID know that they were evil, then.

One cruise missile to the mosque on Friday in this town would ensure this never happens again.

Muslims party like it’s 699 AD.

The small breakaway group refers to all Moslems.

Extremists refers to all Moslems.

The normally peaceful city refers to what is normally considered peaceful in Afghanistan.

Notice that the murderous rioters had just exited Friday prayers? Smart bomb on the mosque would do the trick -- assuming it's carried out during next Friday's prayers.

BTW, that should be "prayers".

No, being a US citizen does not absolve people of poor judgement and actions, particularly those who lead to the deaths of innocent people by those who claim to be Christians and Christian leaders at that.

Let’s see...

Burning a copy of a book...

Cutting off human heads...

Sounds equivalent to me.

Good idea, and anytime the knuckledraggers pour out of a mosque and attack people anywhere we have a military presence, said mosque and everyone in it should be vaporized ASAP.

if we want muslims to give us the slightest bit of kindness, mercy or consideration, then we better start giving it. not returning evil for evil or insult for insult, but giving a blessing instead. there is no telling how many of them read what we say here. what we say on these boards may be responded to in kind; kindess or worse.

when i 1st heard about the possible koran burning, i thought it was a bad idea. the resulting actions/deaths are an illustration of why the Golden Rule should be followed explicitly. those here on the boards who don’t believe in Christ may not understand this at all. this is mostly for believers. whoever has ears to hear, let him hear.

here’s an explanation:
the Rule simply says: “ Do unto others as you would have them do unto you”. iow, as you give so shall you receive or you get what you give. if you want respect, give it. want kindness, give it. fair treatment, give it. want mercy? give it.

this principal is aka reciprocity or reciprocation.

here is the principle from its source:

“1“Do not judge so that you will not be judged. 2“For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you.”

“12“In everything, therefore, treat people the same way you want them to treat you,” Matthew 7

“37“Do not judge, and you will not be judged; and do not condemn, and you will not be condemned; pardon, and you will be pardoned. 38Give, and it will be given to you. They will pour into your lap a good measure—pressed down, shaken together, and running over. For by your standard of measure it will be measured to you in return.” Luke 6

to conclude -
27“But I say to you who hear, love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, 28bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.” Luke 6

“15See that no one repays another with evil for evil, but always seek after that which is good for one another and for all people.” 1 Thessalonians 5

17”Never pay back evil for evil to anyone. Respect what is right in the sight of all men. 18If possible, so far as it depends on you, be at peace with all men.” Romans 12
