I feel really badly for the millions of teachers who are quietly going about doing their jobs. Not all of them are union and not all of them are raving ideologues like these...

My poor daughter is a non-union teacher and just barely hanging on to her job because the state is cutting the budget right and left. She definitely is not in the salary range that WI teachers are and has to pay for her benefits while putting in long hours in meetings and prep work.

What kind of influence are these nasty demonstrations having on state legislatures all across the country except to maybe make cutting teachers' salaries easier for them?

These idiotic "public servants" don't realize that actions have consequences.

True enough. I went to school in rural Wisconsin, small school (graduating class - 98), but the teacher were devoted. My chemistry teacher drove out to our farm one Saturday afternoon to help me out with my chemistry homework. We lived 17 miles from town. Mnay of the teachers were the same way.
