dead bodies everywhere.

Umm...they're not ever going to find most of the dead IMHO. The only thing worse than the tsunami coming in- is the tsunami going back out, and taking everything with it.

There is a semi-joke about Japanese religion, that the Japanese are born Shintoist, married Christian and die Buddhist.

The Japanese are very “flexible” about religion, perhaps because their traditional religion prior to the arrival of Buddhism and Taoism, and much later Christianity, was a sort of paganism-lite (traditional Shinto, prior to the enforce modernisation of the religion to merge it with the Imperial cult, strikes me as having been somewhere between animism and paganism — the kami aren’t quite “gods” in the sense of Greco-Roman or Norse paganism, even if “kami” is usually Englished as “god”.)

Not to out-gruesome ya, but most people aren’t sucked out to sea. They die in debris-filled water ashore. Just as most of the destruction is from battering by debris, rather than water per se. Most of the dead will be found, but likely not sorted out due to the health hazard of so much decomposition.

It happens 24 hours a day, and seven days a week for billions of 6011 years.

There, fixed it. :-D

But you're right, the earthquakes did just start last Tuesday.

(j/k. Your post was right on.)

What's going on?

The Earth is merely doing its thing in its own time frame. Humans live for a short blink of time compared to the age of the Earth, so any human will see a very few geological phenomenon in their lifetime. This is not mysterious. It is not an omen or precursor to end times or quickening or 2012 or anything else that superstitious or overly jealous people want to believe. Every once in a while Mother Earth sneezes or burps and a few million animals die. Or maybe a large meteor bumps into Earth and a few thousand species go extinct. This is normal and has been taking place for millions upon millions of years. Relax. This is nothing new.

Please pass this on to the FReepers who are comparing this to the shuttle disaster... challenger.

Apparently one teacher = 10,000 Japanese Citizens.

Yet the same Freeper refused to mention the Columbia disaster.

Once again, feminism, one FEMALE FEMINIST teacher = 10,000.

There are folks that need to be purged from this website ASAP, I do not want to be associated with these disgusting, vile horrendous monsters.

They are whacked out libs who are infiltrating Free Republic to push their radical agenda. They mention Challenger but Columbia??? What's that??? Oh sorry, no liberal feminist teacher aboard, so their death's are irrelevant.

PLEASE ADMINS BAN THE LIBERAL TROLLS!!!

Jim Robinson himself told me that every post is archived if folks like goseminoles can compare the disaster in Japan to the Challenger explosion than this site is deemed a joke in the eyes of the world!!!

The FReeper is named goseminoles, go search his posts. He believes that 10,000 + deaths = one death of a rad lib teacher!!!

Massive earthquake, title waves, nuke plants melting down and now a volcano? What’s next, a hurricane?

According to goseminoles Christa McAuliffe's death outweighed every single death from 1986 to 2011. Don't you love that we have such brain damaged morons who belittle the legitimacy of this website?

Completely bipassed the Columbia explosion but Christa McAuliffe's death was more important than the deaths of tens of thousands of Japanese, hey goseminoles congrats you are a racist scum!!!! And thanks to google your posts are archived. I pray to God you are banned!!!

How much more can the Japanese take?

I've never seen devastation on this scale in my lifetime.

I wonder how the Japs will rationalize these disasters?

I think the Japanese understand that they live in one of the most seismically active places on earth. The earthquake was due to the subduction of the Pacific plate under the Okhotsk plate... which has been going on for more than 15 million years.

It wouldn’t suprise me if Japan disappeared into the sea. Islands have been formed and destroyed over the course of history. That is just nature. You need to brush up on your geology.

Unfortunately, in addition to northern Japan being already devastated with a huge lose of life, nuke power plants blowing up, plus dangerous volcanic activity, many powerful aftershocks, and the constant threat of additional tsunamis - both Yokohama & Tokyo are due for an offshore earthquake, likely 8.3 or above on the Ritchie scale, plus a massive tsunami, which will leave both mega-cities in ruins, causing a major sell off across international stock markets, possibly a full blown crash, contingent on other explosive potentials in the Middle East, involving Iran and Syria instigating war against Israel. Time will surly tell.
