Not to out-gruesome ya, but most people aren’t sucked out to sea. They die in debris-filled water ashore. Just as most of the destruction is from battering by debris, rather than water per se. Most of the dead will be found, but likely not sorted out due to the health hazard of so much decomposition.
I don’t mean as cause of death...I mean where they end up. They’ve already stated there is a huge debris field some distance off shore.
