Clashes began when thousands of Christians protested against last week's burning of church by Muslim mob; protesters burned tires and blocked highways before being set upon by angry crowd of Muslims.
Thirteen people were killed in violence between Egyptian Christians and Muslims, the health ministry said on Wednesday, as sectarian tensions that appeared to evaporate in the country's revolution resurfaced.
The health ministry said 140 people were wounded, state media reported.

That’s why the Christian majority- South Sudan is what it is today. If the Christians were not armed, the Mooslums would have overrun that part of the country. It was only a stalemate for the past 15 years until a couple of months ago.
Actually not. I read an earlier article which said 6 Christian, 5 Muslim killed. It also said 71 Muslim and about 35 Christians injured. Looks like the Chrisstians are giving as good as they are gettin.
For fans of Finding Nemo, remember the scene below? I think that is where Egypt was when the protesters "won". For those that don't see the connection, it is this: Their success was not an ending. Rather, it was a beginning - of an even greater challenge.

Those eeeevvvviiiillll Christians! How dare they complain about a church being burned and innocent Christians being killed and the persecution that Christians get every day! Why they should just bow down in submission and thank their lord and masters and pay the jizya tax!

It’s always the Christians killed. They are no match for the savages who have their savage government behind them. So why does this country continue to let the savages in?
We give over a billion a year to Egypt; and they need our aid now more than ever.
We have the ability to demand an end to discrimination and even murder against Christians.
After World War I, when Herbert Hoover (not yet president) was in charge of food aid to the newly-formed nation of Poland, and Poland executed 37 Jews, he sent a simple telegram: “Stop.”
If they did not stop, he would stop food aid to Poland.
Result: Poland stopped.
