Iraq's largest oil refinery was shut down on Saturday after militants carried out a bomb attack and set it on fire, the governor of Salahuddin province said.
The militants killed four people and planted bombs at production units for kerosene and benzene at the refinery in the town of Baiji, a former al Qaeda stronghold about 180 km (112 miles) north of Baghdad, Governor Ahmed al-Jubouri said.
"There is a big fire in the refinery and the refinery has completely stopped," Jubouri told Reuters.
Overall violence in Iraq has dropped sharply since the peak of sectarian conflict in 2006-07, but attacks still occur on a daily basis.
The Baiji refinery was controlled for a long time by al Qaeda militants, who used it to finance the insurgency.

I just put together an email to some friends and put on another pot of coffee. Something just dawned on me.

Middle East oil is traded in dollars. What happens if the oil is cut to a trickle?
Oil is a huge commodity, one might even say the world runs on an oil standard. If the world wants oil they will need to trade in a new currency with ...Russia?
This isn’t about despots, dictators, or democracy...or even islam. Turmoil in the Middle East is about economic war against the dollar, against the United States. And the mole in the White House is in on it.

Ides just means 15th. We make too many assumptions of the world around us. People do it with the Bible a lot. Anything that people percieve as spiritual, they kind of invent in their head what they think it means. We have to wipe that covering from our eyes and actually find for ourselves what things mean.
All this is being done to establish a new reserve currency.
It is also associated with the assassination of Cesar. I wasn’t using it from a ‘spiritual’ tense.
To be truthful is my goal. I am a human thus I fail all the time. Do not know what is taking place in regard to the currency question. Above my pay grade. Wish I knew, for knowing would be another clue.

I am right there with you really. I'm no financial guru as my original post stated it dawned over my second pot of coffee. My email to friends was just discussing events and how upside down the world seems and not really having a grip on what is happening. Or how some folks could be such useful tools of the administration.
I had already sent the rambling email off and a few bits of information sort of 'clicked' in my head. Russia, China, the IMF...even Obama's trip planned to South America for March. “to forge new alliances for progress in the Americas.”
Why Brazil? They are tremendously friendly with Iran. Why Chile? Why El Salvador?
And now I return to my normal standard of "the world has gone totally nuts!"
