Ted Nugent: I love Palin but I couldn’t vote for her right now
Hot Air ^ | 1/6/11 | Allahpundit

Dude, I think we just found our keynote speaker for RINOcon.

“(Palin’s) coming from the street, she’s coming from the we-the-people rank-and-file, she makes sense when she talks, she says all the right things, she’s sincere, she’s knowledgeable , she’s articulate, she’s damn good-looking, plus she kills moose, how can you go wrong?” Nugent gushed.

However, when Cooper pressed Nugent on whether Palin would make a good president, Nugent balked.

“It’s too early to tell. Right know, if we had a vote, I couldn’t vote for Sarah Palin. And I love her. I love her madly, and I respect her.”

I never thought I’d say this but now I’m honestly curious to know who the Nuge is backing in 2012. He’s campaigned with her, he’s written fawning tributes to her — I figured he was a true blue Palinista come the primaries. What now? Is Uncle Ted a Pence supporter? Mitch Daniels? Everything I thought I knew about the world has been shattered.

Thats exactly why we need a gunslinger who is not afraid of offending anybody as long as they are doing the right thing.

I am going to have to play Devil's Advocate with that statement.

Tell me, seriously, have you never experienced the schadenfreude of having someone offend you but then ask you to do them a favor?

If you really think the only way to kick a nation's ass is to send out the tanks in, then you stopped paying attention when sanctions were introduced to punish Cuba. There's nothing so sweet as to have someone come to you for a favor, and making the bastard grovel.

If America had the natural resources to be completely self-sufficient, it could afford to offend anybody and everybody on the world stage. But it's not self-sufficient and unless you go back to horses and carts it never will be. Why do you think you do deals with Pakistan, and Saudi Arabia, and China, and Russia? BECAUSE YOU BLOODY HAVE TO!

So, having your top politicians offending those nations egregiously, purely to satisfy the flag-waving parochialists, already would harm American interests.

Suppose a President Did The Right Thing to bring hi-tech manufacturing jobs back to the USA but the manner of doing it offended the Chinese to such an extent thatthey just flat-out refuse to supply you with the rare earth metals to make the industry capable of functioning? China's entirely within its rights to decide not to export rare earth metals to the USA, or do so in very small quantities at very high prices. What would you do in retaliation? Stop them buying Hollywood movies? It's not a situation you could go to war for, because the day you decide to fight China for behaving like a capitalist nation and doing something capitalist America would do in a heartbeat if the tables were turned, the credibility of your nation as a supporter of free market ideals would be flushed down the toilet.

Your politicians can piss off the Russians and the Iraqis and the South Americans as much as they want if it satisfies a flag-waving PR imperative and keeps the proles shouting "hoo ya", and you can seek out new sources in Alaska, and you can even think they're pussies for not doing anything when your politicians are doing it... but at the moment you still need to import oil and you need security of supply, and they all know it. And, that does mean you have to keep holding your noses and trading with the Saudis and other people you'd probably rather just tell to take a hike.

Some OPEC members are just biding their time for the one day you really, really need to stockpile lots of the stuff and have to go to the nations you've been insulting for years, for their help.

I never said doing the right thing would not hurt. It is a matter of leadership.

As Alexander Hamilton said.. “A nation that prefers disgrace to danger is prepared for a MASTER and deserves one.

I am confused? What in the world ever happened to the old fashioned political debate where you didn’t shoot off personal attacks upon people you don’t agree with? I have the right, last time I checked, to disagree with you or anyone else without being labeled confused. Believe it or not, my opinion is just as relevant as yours or anyone else on this board. And because I don’t support her, I’m accused of hurling “attacks” against her - I am NOT attacking her...I simply don’t support her as president. I believe she’s a patriot and has a place in service to our country, if not a public service position. You have accused me of belonging to one of the liberal groups. When that didn’t pan out as accurate, you said I read too much MSM, which also isn’t accurate. And you are now addressing my mental or emotonal status - being confused. How about allowing me the right to disagree with you and I’ll refrain from calling you an extremist.

I feel the same way.

She’s much better than the Mitt/Huck crowd. If it’s her or Mitt that’s no choice at all.

But I think a fresher face that hasn’t been buried up to the neck in mud may be the way to go.

We’ll see who runs.

Yes.

What in the world ever happened to the old fashioned political debate where you didn’t shoot off personal attacks upon people you don’t agree with?

"You are confused" is not a personal attack. Your post to me, #160, reads:

Ohio, you think anyone who disagrees with you is a wusshead. I don’t think steele-resolve is a wuss at all - but you would say that’s because I’m a wuss. I see steele as a sincere, dedicated individual who is facing some of the realities of modern politics. Why the heck do you think people are fleeing the country - you do know that don’t you? They are FED UP. Some people feels it’s hopeless and they want to go fishing like steele and that’s their choice.

I am not "Ohio." I am not from Ohio. I have yet to post to "steele-resolve" in this thread. You are attributing replies to me that I have neither made nor addressed, and you are rambling incoherently as a result. As such I can see how you would find Sarah unintelligent. LOL.

Why not see if you can get together with the four other Newt supporters here and start a ping list for your candidate? Maybe you can build a following. Or not.

You remind me SO much of a liberal actually....when a liberal can’t stand on the issues they make personal attacks. I think you are REALLY listening to too much MSM.

You're confused. I documented it for you. In turn, you posted irrelevance. I upped the ante. You upped the irrelevance. Up yours.

Good luck with your anti-Palin pro-Newt bilge.

i’m glad to see that FR now attracts a more refined type than it did years ago. i wasn’t anti palin before but after hearing from her supporters there ain’t no way ever i’d be in her camp. if this is the quality of her constituency she attracts, god help us all. i simply didnt want her for president. after you, i am now turned off from her - and i AM anti-palin. i was discussing mentality of palin with some folks today and told them to listen carefully. i refuse to go this far right

You're welcome...and it's a pleasure.

i wasn’t anti palin before but after hearing from her supporters there ain’t no way ever i’d be in her camp.

This is drivel. It's akin to stating that one refuses to be a Christian because some Christians are hypocrites. It's weak soap and pathetic bilge.

and if this is the quality of her constituency she attracts, god help us all.

"God" is spelled with a capital "G."

Your posting is lazy...almost as lazy as your thinking.

i simply didnt want her for president. after you, i am now turned off from her - and i AM anti-palin.

Right. I made you anti-Palin. For a non-thinker you are pretty amusing. LOL

i was discussing mentality of palin with some folks today and told them to listen carefully.

I don't mean this as an insult, but are you sober when you post?

i refuse to go this far right

You refuse to go so far right that you would support Sarah Palin? Is that what this means? Your posts are so lacking in content that it's almost impossible to decipher whatever thought processes are trying to coagulate into actual patterns.

Like I said, good luck with your support for Newt Gingrich.

All I am going to say is... She should never had killed Bullwinkle. The stress it put upon Rocky.... remember the NYSlimes article..... he tried to commit suicide by diving into a bucket of water under a high diving board.
And that grizzly picture of Boris....
We should all remember that day that will live in infamy.
HERE
I still weep for Rocky and the poor moose. His poor broken bloody body laid out on the cold Alaskan permafrost.
Meanwhile my tag line tells all who I believe should be running and have the backing of the whole conservative movement as well as the less, Repubs in all their colors.
With that being said P. You and all, do have a great upcoming day. I really must hit the sack.
