House delays tax vote

WhYes - it was a Rules vote - but it was a defacto test vote to see if the Tax Bill could pass the House.
It was about the Pelosi caucas going ballistic that they were expected to “deem and pass” this stinker, without giving them a chance to be seen ammending the bill to increase the death tax.
Now if the House Republicans were just made of the stuff to muster the same hollering bluster as the caucas libs against the dang thing, we could push this bummer over the cliff. Filibuster or something, or use procedural fire power to reverse chaos somehow. But be seen to DO SOMETHING besides voting FOR the thing.
“THIS IS THE ONLY STRATEGY THAT STOPS DADT AND DREAM ACT. This bill MUST BE FORCED BACK TO THE SENATE TO EAT THE CLOCK. So the House GOP should VOTE TO INCREASE THE ESTATE TAX. They SHOULD VOTE WITH THE LEFT WING IN THE HOUSE.”
This sounds like a great strategy, but is the House GOP smart enough and posses a large enough pair of stones to carry it out?
Thank you!
Funding legislation begins House. Or, is unconstitutional.
Period.
Too late: the Rooskies are already here.
It’s a joke...another pretend to care about OUR money...
Speaking of the omnibus, my two (NYS) senators racked up a tidy list of earmarks: 106 for Schumer, and 79 for Gillibrand.
The Dems want more earmarks
Wonder how many will get your reference? Funny movie.
Force it back to the Senate for another vote.
Not sure I’m understanding you here. How does that force it back to the Senate. The Senate doesn’t have to pass the same bill. Differences are reconciled in conference. Am I missing something?
Procedural crap. I shuddered when I saw my state rep Jim McGovern is involved. UGH! Hey *I* didn’t vote for him!
The ones who are balking are complaining that the death tax isn’t high enough.
I think the 8billion in pork you refer to is in a different Bill. You may be referring to the 1.1 trillion Omnibus bill.
79 for botox research?
Father of Meathead had hair ??
A whopper of a canard I heard was the majority of the assets to be estate taxed were never subject to taxes in the first place.
But houses and other savings are taxed, income of hedge fund managers isn’t or less so...but they aren’t the majority of these estates.
I believe I recently heard Rep. Bachmann, MN raise that concern during an interview. That may be the reason for the delay.
