George W Bush thinks Sarah Palin is 'unqualified'
Telegraph UK ^

Mr Bush has allegedly told friends that Mrs Palin is not qualified to be president and criticises John McCain for picking her as his Running Mate in 2008

"Naming Palin makes Bush think less of McCain as a man," a Republican official close to Mr Bush told the New York Daily News.

"He thinks McCain ran a lousy campaign with an unqualified running mate and destroyed any chance of winning by picking Palin."

Mr Bush has allegedly been disparaging about Mrs Palin in the past.

Matt Latimer, former special assistant to Mr Bush, wrote in a book released last year: "'I'm trying to remember if I've met her before. I'm sure I must have.' [Mr Bush's] eyes twinkled, then he asked, 'What is she, the governor of Guam?'"

I know it won’t make me popular (like I care anyway), but I’ll have to agree with you.

As much as I like Sarah, I’m not convinced she’s presidential material.

Oh that’s right, she WAS the “pit bull with lipstick” wasn’t she? Now she’s Mama Grizzly, a moniker which seems to suit better.

W gave us 2008.

Exactly. Most presidents put a VP in place who becomes the de facto frontrunner when he retires. Bush didn't do that which left the GOP side in a free-for-all.

I've always suspected that McCain in 2008 was part of a deal struck by Bush and the party poo-bahs to get McCain on board for 2004, instead of running against Bush in the primaries again.

And if the 2008 campaign (and choosing Sarah in particular) made Bush think less of McCain, he has a short memory. McCain was undercutting Bush for eight years on everything from tax cuts to torture to Iraq. McCain was on the networks every night trashing Bush. That's why I refused to vote for him.

The original story not only didn’t name a source, it didn’t publish any quotes, just thoughts of ‘someone familiar with Bush’s thinking ...blah blah blah.’ So, *someone* divined what Bush thinks and those *thoughts* have made it to every paper in the US and now abroad.

But she would have no chance in the general election for POTUS.

No, you're wrong, and GWB could't be more wrong, if it is really true he feels/or has stated this.

BTW, how much representative experience, from a national perspective did Abraham Lincoln have before he became President?

Two years as a US Congressman.

How much executive experience did Abraham Lincoln, you know, the guy who started the GOP, have before he became President?

Zero!

When offered the position of secretary or governor of the Oregon Territory, he turned it down.

Do you know why?

Because, The territory was a Democratic stronghold and acceptance would have ended his legal and political career in Illinois, so he declined.

Because he took the long view of his career and realized that taking that position would have hindered his effectiveness and also, how far he could go.

Now, do I really have to connect the dots for you here?

Be careful lest the perfect become the enemy of the good.

She doesn’t seem to have any trace of the “new world order” stuff which so hobbled the Bushes’ otherwise okay-to-good performance in office. So she’s a chick. So?

Which “friend” of GWB said this?
Karl Rove, perchance?

If Bush actually is disparaging Palin in this fairly nasty manner, he would do much better to just STFU. I don’t understand why so many Republicans (including Bush) aren’t smart enough to realize that it’s bad politics to pointedly never go negative regarding 0bama and the Democrats but publicly trash talk prominent members of their own party.

Strange the NY News is claiming this unattributed allegedly told friends as fact when in other cases he has been the model of discretion.

Methinks the whisper campaign against SP by the party "establishment" continues.

I believe it was because he was on a posting spree of articles from the MSM propaganda campaign to show Sarah Palin as not qualified for the Presidency.

Did anybody see Katie Couric Friday night? She asked him about Palin and he wouldn’t say anything. Katie Couric sickens me, but if this story is true, Bush sickens me even more.
