I’ll never fly again.

I stopped into AAA this week, and one woman who works there told me she recently booked 2 transatlantic cruises for 25 days. It included a Mediteranean cruise.

A lot of people are totally fed up with flying, including me.

Do you receive invitation from tourist establishments that you have visited in days gone by? If you do write a short note expressing how much you enjoyed staying there but you are unable to return because of your objection to TSA methods which you consider to be invasive.

This will prompt the business owners to get together and object which carries more weight than your single voice.

In all honesty, I don’t doubt that similar issues were the reason why those 9/11 hijackers that were originally stopped were allowed right through; the security probably didn’t want to go near them...

I’m flying in November.

You have inspired me to imitate the famous scene from “When Harry Met Sally”;-)

I’ll gladly accept your profile of these people.

The question then becomes, why the surly attitude (theirs, not yours)? And why do so many of their actions defy common sense if they are educated?

To the TSA I say the same thing I say to nurses, waitresses, hotel clerks and anyone else with an attitude: this job was going to involve working with the public from day one and every day thereafter. Therefore, don’t act surprised and annoyed when the public show up.

If Tyranny and Oppression come to this land, it will be in the guise of fighting a foreign enemy.

Wikiquote says that there is no known source for this and it is probably a paraphrase of some genuine Madison quotes that say similar things:

"Perhaps it is a universal truth that the loss of liberty at home is to be charged against provisions against danger, real or pretended from abroad."

"The means of defence agst. foreign danger, have been always the instruments of tyranny at home."

The existence of the Transportation "Security" Agency (TSA) is one of the greatest victories of Islam.

This may become some good news -

My profile was of the first waves of hiring back in 2002, and only for the checked baggage portion, no comment on passenger screening and current hires.

It hurts to see something that was supposed to be a step up and forward only become a step into government oppression.

I'm taking a vacation over the coming Thanksgiving holiday, and will drive for two days, each way, to avoid flying.

Good for you. The airlines are complicit with this stuff. If they had done their lobbying job, an organization such as the TSA would have never gotten off the ground. A privately-run service would have been in its place.
