After a decisive win in Tuesday’s Republican Primary, businessman Ron Johnson now holds a seven-point lead over incumbent Democrat Russ Feingold in Wisconsin’s U.S. Senate race.

The latest Rasmussen Reports statewide telephone survey of Likely Voters shows Johnson picking up 51% support, while Feingold earns the vote from 44%. One percent (1%) of voters prefer some other candidate, and four percent (4%) remain undecided.

I’ve been thinking about this, last year in August when the videos of the townhalls started appearing, with the citizens voicing frustration and the incumbents acting like royalty, I couldn’t wait for the 2010 elections and it was pretty clear those people felt the same way. But elections were more than a year away....in that time we have had to suffer through a bogus Nobel prize, more ill spent stimulus, Pelosi calling us an angry mob and that we were a threat, lawsuits against a sovereign state for passing a law to uphold a federal law and the president of Mexico addressing our congress and attacking one of our states and then after hundreds of thousands descend on Washington, MORE THAN ONCE, send emails and faxes, calls jamming the phone lines at the capitol to STOP healthcare take over it is still rammed through....so I think we are more than ready for this election. They have no idea what is coming.

O has been in WI several times recently. I know he was campaigning for Barrett (for gov), and who knows what else he was doing. Sigh.

I wish David Westlake would have been able to get his name out more in the primary, but guessing he didn’t have the funds to have a real go against Johnson, much less Feingold.

There are some things that make me not so fond of Johnson (for example, the Greenland comments, but don’t get me started). Gaffes like that make me cringe a bit.

Don’t get me wrong. Glad to have some candidates that may win, it’s just I guess, I still had higher expectations.

I have even heard that Tammy Bauldwin may be able to be defeated this year.

Like you, last August when this movement began to emerge, I did wonder “will it last? Will people get discouraged? Will we simply run out of steam?”

No. This is real and we’re ready.

That’s not to say we can take results for granted. We are going up against huge, entrenched political machines. BUt we’re as ready as we can be.

I sincerely hope your phrase, “DeMint as speaker,” was a typo, a product of a senior moment, or some such. DeMint is a Senator, and the Senate does not have a “speaker.” It does have a Majority Leader, and Republicans in the majority is a very nice thought. The notion that DeMint would be the Majority Leader in a Senate with a Republican majority, however, is beyond a pipe dream. McConnell as Majority Leader is just fine with me.

DeMint for President has a nice ring to it for 2012.

Not if we don’t all empty our wallets. Send ‘em a few bucks if you can.

Right now I have a Dem congressman (Ron Kind), two Dem senators (Feingold, Kohl), and a Dem governor (James Doyle who is not running).

Me too. Just sent donations to Kapanke and Johnson. Time to dump the rats.

I was mistaking but how could you support McConnel he has not supported many of these candidates until they won. He is part of the problem not part of the solution.

Haven’t seen any polls lately, but I think Kapankee has a chance. The previous congressman from my district, Steve Gunderson a Republican, chose not to run. He was outed as a homosexual, and I think that played a part. Kind has been ensconced since the mid nineties. The problem with Kapankee is that he committed some ethical breaches by using campaign money to pay some private debts. Kind, a Harvard grad, is hitting that information hard, and Kapankee had not effectively answered.
