Cornyn Doesn't Sugarcoat O'Donnell (Bret Baier said NSRC WILL NOT support O’Donnell)
CNN ^ | Tuesday, September 14, 2010 | Dana Bash

12:19 p.m. ET – I just ran into NRSC head John Cornyn coming off the elevator. Most Washington Republicans will tell you on background they think the Delaware Senate pick up is gone for them if Christine O'Donnell wins the GOP primary, but they are reluctant to say so on the record.

Cornyn came pretty close.

He said that not only does he have doubts about whether O'Donnell can win in Delaware, but he also admitted that race is the "lynchpin" to any chance of Senate Republicans taking back the majority.

SNIP

I then asked If O'Donnell wins, are you going to pull your money out of there?

"I think we'll have to have a little powwow," said Cornyn, laughing, as he walked away.

I used to like John Cornyn but his willingness to get behind liberal losers has changed my mind....maybe it’s time we Texans ran someone else for the senate!!!!

Im so hopping mad I am fixing to cry.

I have called both Washington office at 202-224-2934 and his North Texas office at 972-239-1310. He needs to go! This leadership is the enemy.

“It will take several election cycles to get rid of them all but it is something that must be done.”

U R right. It will take several election cycles. But it’s way past time to get rid of the RINO’s. One by one.

We have had a good start in 10 so far. Actually, quite revolutionary if you think about how hard it is to take out a sitting senator.

About O’Donnell’s no chance of winning....two words....Scott Brown ! Wake up Cornyn the tide to conservatism is rolling and you are going under!
You are a TEXAS for gosh sakes...start acting like one!
Man-up - support her if she wins the primary... bring the heavy conservative hitters to Deleware... do not go down without the fight — does the “remember the Alamo” not mean anything to you from your cozy Washington address?

“since Castle has proven he is not conservative”

This needs repeating...

“since Castle has proven he is not conservative” “since Castle has proven he is not conservative” “since Castle has proven he is not conservative” “since Castle has proven he is not conservative” “since Castle has proven he is not conservative”

“There are a lot close races in reddish/purple states where that money can go to better use”

Thank you for your socialist comment, you telling us where to spend OUR money.

Joe Miller and Scott Brown pulled off similar feats.

I sincerely doubt that Castle would win (at this point) against a Democrat foe.

it’s the right decision, a business decision. O’Donnell hasn’t a chance in hell of winning in Delaware. The state is simply to far left. the money’s better spent elsewhere.

Of our choices, Castle is the Republican that can win this seat. O’Donnell has zero chance of winning Delaware in a general election and everyone knows it.

I don't follow your logic. If Castle is so bad a candidate that he can't even win the primary, how do you figure he would win the general? My guess is that you are assuming that everyone who votes for O'Donnell in the primary would vote for Castle in the general, but you're probably wrong. Castle wins the primary, and a substantial number of tea-party types will vote third party.

This is an amazing race. Not only for the race itself, but how it’s helped clearly define who’s Conservative and who isn’t.

Amen! The purging of the Party may be painful, but has to be endured to the end. I have set my face against people I would have never thought I'd oppose before, all because they waffle on non-negotiable conservative principles. Cornyn is one of them.

This issue is similar to the Koran burning - it reveals more about the ones who oppose it than about the ones who commit it.

The problem is there’s nothing conservative about Castle. O’Donnel is the only conservative running.

I completely agree. It's great to pursue 100% level of conservatism in a candidate, but if nominating someone out of step with his/her state's politics, what's been achieved, other than possibly giving Harry Reid another stint as Majority Leader? But I've been hearing all morning... "We've gotta make that statement.. "No More RINOs!"

During general elections, we’re told, hold your nose and vote for the RINO no matter what — the primaries are where you “exercise your conscience.” Now, during the primaries, we’re told, hold your nose and vote for the RINO no matter what — only they can win the general.

In the primary, the smart move is to vote for the most conservative candidate who CAN win. That is what primaries are for. The problem is, O'Donnell can NOT win Delaware and everyone knows this. Political realities are what they are, and she has no chance to be victorious in a general election in Delaware.

Castle is a RINO, no doubt. He is pretty horrible all things considered. But given our choices, he is the one who can actually win. He will vote for an (R) for majority leader - which is about the best we can expect out of Delaware anytime soon.

If people just want to make a statement, fine. Just don't whine come November if we needed that last vote for majority leader and don't have it because O'Donnell got ripped to shreds and lost to Coons - and she is going to lose.

“I imagine the folks in Texas are starting to get a little tired of Cornyn. May the Tea Party find a great candidate to run against him in Texas. I have had my fill of him.”

Even though they can’t beat Texas in football, Oklahoma still has two great Senators.

I wish one of them would move here
to run against Cornyn next cycle.

I think Oklahoma can replace with a new conservative Senator, even though they can’t get as good as football talent in that state.

"If Cornyn truly said this..."

If, is right, If he did say it as quoted, he needs to move on either voluntarily or involuntarily in 2012!

Cornyn obviously is suffering from short term memory loss.
Hey John, remember Kay Bailey Hutchison.

AND if O’Donnell wins she did it WITHOUT your help. HINT HINT

Joe Miller's Alaska is a far cry from O'Donnell's DE. As for Scott Brown... do you REALLY want to make that argument?
