Cornyn Doesn't Sugarcoat O'Donnell (Bret Baier said NSRC WILL NOT support O’Donnell)
CNN ^ | Tuesday, September 14, 2010 | Dana Bash

12:19 p.m. ET – I just ran into NRSC head John Cornyn coming off the elevator. Most Washington Republicans will tell you on background they think the Delaware Senate pick up is gone for them if Christine O'Donnell wins the GOP primary, but they are reluctant to say so on the record.

Cornyn came pretty close.

He said that not only does he have doubts about whether O'Donnell can win in Delaware, but he also admitted that race is the "lynchpin" to any chance of Senate Republicans taking back the majority.

SNIP

I then asked If O'Donnell wins, are you going to pull your money out of there?

"I think we'll have to have a little powwow," said Cornyn, laughing, as he walked away.

This is a wise move. You think she’s going to pick up 20 points in under 2 months if she pulls it off tonight? There are a lot close races in reddish/purple states where that money can go to better use. Castle is the closest thing to a R that can win in DE, and we’re toying with the idea of handing Obama another automatic democrat vote. Unbelievable.

I love it. All these Freepers defend this guy to me. He bends over backwards for Specter and Crist and they jump the party, but if a conservative ever wins he won't support them.

Plus, his first place to give an interview is the Huffington Post, so he can give his real feelings about issues. People who think this guy wants the Senate to change politically are serious dupes.

This is an amazing race. Not only for the race itself, but how it’s helped clearly define who’s Conservative and who isn’t.

It’s a battle which has to be fought.

To me, this is one of the battles in the war to define the future of the Tea Party.

This is not just about DE any more, or about one senate seat, this is the battle for the direction of the Republican Party.

Clearly the establishment have seen their various defeats around the nation, and have decide they will circle their wagons and make their stand here.

At this point I don’t care about the senate seat, it’s more important for the future of conservatism to take the GOP from the establishment.

O’Donnell has zero chance of winning Delaware in a general election and everyone knows it.

No, only RINO apologists 'know' it - this year, being a pro-Obama incumbent is a liability, and Castle has too often voted for Obama's agenda.

But nah, you think everyone should just wave the RINO pom-poms while there is still a conservative that can win the primary.

I got a call from a lib friend in Austin ... says he finally found a Republican he could support ... John Cornyn. I would have barfed into the phone if i thought it might come out the other end.

Come on - you’re saying you don’t think we can turn DE into Oklahoma in the next 50 days and bring home the gold for O’Donnell? /s

If Cornyn truly said this then he is an arrogant ass and needs to be voted out of office.

Yeah, that has worked well before, as stated above:

Chafee is our best chance!
Specter is our best chance!
Scuzzyfava is our best chance!
Crist is our best chance!
Murkowski is our best chance!
Castle is our best chance!

As for the "nominating the most conservative candidate that CAN actually win", I think O'Donnell is STILL the choice, since Castle has proven he is not conservative.

The time has come!

It's evident that it's time for a full blown 'Conservative Revolution'!...

The 'Old Guard' have to be removed from leadership positions!

As a Texan, I’d gladly see him go off into the sunset.

These are the people who will give us Romney in 2012. Or, rather they’ll try to shove him down our throats.

Rinos are dangerous to the republic.

Killing them should be our first priority, because on balance they hurt more than they help.

This Texan is so tired of Cornyn, KayFailey, et al. No donations to GOP, RNC, NRSC, etc. Only directly to candidates.

Unfortunately, Cornball is not up for re-election 'til 2014 (so said his snooty staffer). Kay is now supposedly reconsidering retirement. Ugggg.

Michael Williams is a great, conservative Tea Party alternative.

The elite ruling class doesn’t like it when an outsider treads on their domain.

Everybody knew David had no chance of winning against Goliath, too.

I knew John Cornyn many years ago and even worked with him on an early Senate campaign. The John Cornyn of today is nothing like the Cornyn who first went into politics.

He is turning into (has turned into) a DC Establishment Douchebag.
