ELDERLY people are being left to STARVE on NHS wards, a shocking report revealed today. Almost 180,000 patients left hospital malnourished in 2008/9.

And 239 patients DIED of malnutrition in hospital in 2007, charity Age UK found.

Those with difficulty swallowing are put at risk of choking by not being given puréed food. Other people's trays are put out of reach or taken away untouched.

Fewer than half of hospitals screen older patients for malnutrition on admission

I believe that the elderly are abused right here in the USA in some nursing homes. Those that have the least amount of visitors are at the highest risk.

Where are these patients children and why are they not demanding better care or withdrawing their parents from the ‘hospital’ to take them home and take care of them themselves.

How ‘bout that socialized “medicine”? Up until recently, it was called murder or genocide.

Those with difficulty swallowing are put at risk of choking by not being given puréed food

Standard procedure in American nursing homes is for a speech therapist to assess swallowing difficulties, and order either ground or pureed meals, depending. The residents typically hate pureed food but they can swallow it without choking to death so they are stuck with it.

A nursing home which did not attend to this would find itself under intense scrutiny by the state, at least in Ohio, and if it resulted in a death they might be shut down and put out of business.

It’s not the first story like this that’s been reported about the NHS doing this to elderly patients. Or patients that are in comas or otherwise disabled.

Never ever go to a hospital by yourself. Have someone there with you 24/7 if you can, but at least 12 hours out of every day. Have them keep a log of every person who comes in the room, what they said and what they did.

You will be amazed at what they try to get away with even if you are there if you do not pay attention and ask a lot of questions. I was with my Dad and it was non-stop screw ups, forgotten medications, forgott cathetar bags, no water, etc. etc. And this was at a good hospital. Absolutely the most frightening thing I have ever witnessed.

This goes double or triple in the UK

Absolutely, this stuff goes on all the time here as well. It must be 10 times worse under ‘socialized’ medical care.

Sometimes I wonder if these are the same parents who farmed their now-absent children out to daycare.

They are too busy working so they can pay taxes to the socialist system.

I agree. If the caregiver can get hospice services involved......especially if there isn't any close family members available.....the patient's care improves dramatically. (an extra set of eyes on the books so to speak)

Socialism is all about destroying the natural family so connections are pretty much meaningless and when they become unconvenient, there is no one left to really care.

That is why our government is destroying the family unit...institutes the state as nanny and caretaker. create no fault divorce—make marriage meaningless so the word father and mother, wife and husband become replacable with anyone—no particular biological attachments...families are too busy making ends meet to spend time raising their children....they are farmed out. No loyalty, no caring, just detached, unbonded people.

People don’t care if they kill off the useless eaters or the unwanted babies. They just use up more resources.

Another reason why yesterday in DC was so very important.
