If this was in the middle of *no* where....How did the murderers get there? Was a second vehicle involved?

This is more like the American West a hundred and fifty years ago. There seem to be those who will prey on others in every generation and in every generation they must be beaten back, so the the world will not fall into darkness.

I would guess it's possible the couple were car/truck jacked/kidnapped and drivin to this remote site and killed. The suspect could have had someone follow them to the remote site...Or could have been alone.

My hunch is they were either car jacked and made to drive to this remote location or, there was a second vehicle involved that was used by the bad guys to reach their remote location.

Either way, there has to be some video or witnesses in the area the truck was dropped....Nice truck, big crew cab....Hard to miss.

This is a particularly bad crime.

The likely victims

Authorities say Gary and Linda Haas are the owners of the truck and trailer, but do not know yet if they are the victims.

The pickup truck, which was determined to be hauling the trailer, was found nearly two hours away in Albuquerque.

Carjacking/abduction from rest area, truck stop or cafe...

Kills them in the camper and drives. Pulls off Interstate down dirt road to dump/burn camper. Drive vehicle to home turf and abandon.

They had dogs and were possibly armed. I’m going to guess that they knew or were expecting whoever killed them.

Only several hundred miles from Juarez Mexico...A really nasty violent place...

They're going to look really hard at the victims backgrounds to see who they bumped around with, if they were in big debt, had enemies, if they sued anyone recently, had a disgruntle business partner etc, etc, etc.

A little unusual they had his and hers CCW permits...

I would say: No, no and no.

Possibly armed, but not on person.

Total stranger(s).

Dogs were wimps and just under the feet, not of concern by the actor(s).

"Just do what he says" is bad advice by the MSM & cops.

Prayers for y’all to have a safe and enjoyable trip, Gator113.

My husband and I thought about doing the same, but we’ve decided it’s probably better to just leave the camper at home and pay for accomodations along the way.

It’s a shame that we have come to a point in this country where it’s almost necessary to be wary of all strangers regardless of how friendly, and harmless, they may seem to be.

I wouldn’t assume that. Seems they traveled around a lot, camped in state parks. Probably just did it as a point of caution given their traveling style.

Hmmmm

This was really remote per the article. It's my thinking they both had CCWs, but possible not in hand. However even wimpy dogs bark...Especially in the middle of nowhere, where even small sounds can be heard...If this was the case, you'd think they would have had time to arm themselves and prepare....

Yup. When you’re out like that you have to be prepared to forcefully defend yourself. I recall the same thing has happened to older couples in campgrounds in Oregon a few times in the past. The motive is usually a drifter (a jail escapee or other wanted individual) looking to steal the folks’ vehicle and perhaps some cash to move some distance in a short amount of time. My wife and I like to camp in out of the way primitive campgrounds and usually we go in mid week when there is almost nobody else around. But anytime we’re out in the sticks I pack. So far we have not had occasion to do more than kindly suggest a time or to that we don’t wish to have any company.

Not sure if anyone has answered some of your questions, responded to your comments.

The area where the truck was dumped is a mixture of industrial/residential. Not a lot of fast food places, etc. The article mentions there were not any nearby video cameras to assist.

Santa Rosa is on I-40, so they could have been hitchhiking. The dump spot is a bit off of I-25.

It is getting so that one doesn’t feel safe anywhere. This happened just a day or 2 ago in Amarillo:

I was thinking along the route west to Albuquerque, and into Albuquerque. They could have stopped for some reason. It's really surprising how many businesses have video nowadays...If you look closely at the pic up thread, of the truck, it appears to be dumped in a shopping center...Do I have that right?

The article mentions there were not any nearby video cameras to assist.

I was reading this article here and it did not mention that. :http://www.newson6.com/Global/story.asp?S=12941053

Please note, some times they provide bad info or disinformation in the news so the suspects don't jackrabbit....If the bad guys read they have good video, they will likely take off from the area.

Santa Rosa is on I-40, so they could have been hitchhiking. The dump spot is a bit off of I-25.

You mean the suspect was possibly hitchhiking?

If so, I would bet against this couple picking up hitchhikers, due to the fact that most with CCWs are not trusting people to begin with.

Thanks for the information.

LOL! Yeah, in California where it's unususal to have even ONE CCW permit.

A little too much drama there Joe Friday.
