His story is plausible. While he went out for coffee she decided to check her email and found 50 bookmarks on the Holloway case. When he returned they had a confrontation and he killed her. That scenario is a lot more likely than some wild conspiracy.

RE: Why did Stephany go to the room with Joran? Remember her father had given her $1,000 to buy a laptop? Maybe Joran, seeing this as his opportunity to get some much needed cash, lured her with the story that he had a laptop for sale. Would explain Stephany going up to the room willingly...to take a look at the laptop.
