Republicans won't fight. They see it only as a liberal replacing a liberal.
Idiots like Hatch and Graham will put up token resistance then capitulate with "He was elected President, he's entitled to his choices."
They don't see the ultimate worth of attempting to stop Obama the same way that Dems blocked Bush. They won't trash the nominee, because "Republicans just don't do that sort of thing."

This is the biggest problem with a Dem being in charge. They can appoint judges to the Supreme Court. It doesn’t help at all in overturning Roe vs. Wade.

The Constitution requires that a replacement justice be appointed by the "President".
In order to be eligible to hold the office of President, a person must be a Natural Born Citizen which Obama is not. He was not born in the geographical territory of the several states but was instead born in Mombasa in modern Kenya under circumstances in which he is not even a citizen of the United States at all.
So any litigant before the Supreme Court ought to have standing and the right to challenge the ability of any replacement for Stevens as well as Ms. Sotomayor to sit on the Court in their action.
Such a challenge ought to be an effective claim on which to force discovery and a hearing on any factual argument about where he was in fact born. The result ought to be a precidential holding that he is not eligible to be President and therefore does not hold the office.
Not likely that he could continue to occupy 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue very long in that circumstance.

Adolph Hitler's contempt for traditional German law had been manifest from his earliest days as leader of the National Socialist German Workers' Party (NSDAP). The NSDAP's Twenty-Five point programme of 1920 proposed that existing law 'be replaced by a German common law'. By implication the NSDAP believed that the primary purpose of law should be to serve a racially defined Aryan national community enshrined in a 'strong central state power' that would replace the democratic Constitution of 1919. Hitler shared the Party's rejection of the principle of equality for all before the law. However, by 1921 he had confused the exclusivist principles of the Party by imposing one of his own, namely that the 'Leader Principle' (Führerprinzip) should be the law of the Party. It was the 'will' of the Party's Führer, and therefore the 'law' of the NSDAP, that the single-minded, ruthless acquisition of political power should take priority over other considerations.

The timing of Steven's retirement demonstrates how committed a socialist he is, and probably always was.
Stevens reads the polls.
Stevens knows that this year is the last chance in decades for a socialist President to ram through a socialist nominee.
Gerald Ford was warned, but like many in the 70s, didn't realize how dangerous a 5th column we are up against.
Today, however, these characters have removed their masks, thinking that they have adequately indoctrinated the masses.
The mid-terms will be the Zombies versus the Sane.

Don’t let the door hit you in the ass on the way out, socialist.
If the Pubbies don’t fight WHOMEVER is the nominee tooth and nail - just because - then they are finished. NOW IS THE TIME TO FIGHT, TO SHOW THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE PARTIES.
No fight = metaphysical proof that the Republicans are “The Stupid Party” (of course, we all know that the jackassess are “The Evil Party”).

Stevens has been making noises for awhile now about retiring during Obama’s reign of terror so he could be replaced by another Leftist.
I’m wondering if Obama would nominate Hillary for all the usual usery reasons the Left nominates women, and to keep her from running against him in 2012 as well.

I wouldn’t be too surprised if Chairman MaoBama nominates a 25- or 30-year-old unknown uber-lib so his legacy can shape our lives for the next 50+ years.
