1 in 4 Americans Censoring Thoughts Under Obama
WorldNetDaily ^ | March 27, 2010 | Bob Unruh

Nearly one American in four routinely censors his or her own thoughts "much" or "always" under President Obama's administration, and those who believe their personal liberties have plunged since inauguration day have grown significantly from 49 percent to more than 55 percent in just one month....

The WND Freedom Index poll from Wenzel Strategies shows even one in 10 Democrats – whose party controls both the White House and Congress – believes there's been a big decrease in freedoms....

On the issue of censoring, the question was asked: "Do you find yourself self-censoring thoughts that you hold on a given subject because of fear of harm, punishment, social rejection, or some other penalty?"

Ten percent said they censor "much," and another 13.3 percent said they censor "always." The figures were 11 percent for Republicans and independents who reported censoring "much" and more than 16 percent in each category for those who censor "always."

Even among Democrats, nearly 7 percent censor "always" and another 8 percent censor "much."

But ... but ... I thought President Bush was the one who was attacking our liberties and freedom of speech!

I’ve self censored to the extent that I no longer have anything to do with several people I used to be close to.

Honestly, this title is a bit silly. I have been censoring my thoughts my whole adult life. If I said every stupid thing that popped into my head, I’d be working as a night janitor.

Don’t worry. At least you can say “f***” and “sh**.”

As Bob Dylan said a long time ago

And if my thought-dreams
Could be seen
They’d probably put my head
In a guillotine

That 1 out of 4 sure wouldn’t be me when I hear those purple lips start flappin on the news.

I saw the neighbors black lab packing his bags the other day after the tirade I cut loose with from hearing the Kenyan taunt those who didn’t want this CrapCare.

No if anything I have become more vocal where the hateful Pinkos are concerned.

I know several people like you who have lost key relationships. This is sad, but a necessary reality.

I do not censor my thoughts, but I am more careful on how I approach people these days. I sometimes use my knowledge of their political views to package my words in a manner that may impact them. For instance, I have a cousin, a very liberal cousin, who is very concerned about the stock market valuation and what it will be in the future. I could provide a feel good, "Well Obama screwed up the economy," answer, but I choose not to. Rather, I state that the costs to the corporations of health care reform are becoming apparent, which means the corporations will be less profitable and hence have less value. It is a painfully slow process, but by keeping the dialogue "bland" but open, I have a chance to allow her to connect the dots in her own way.

I never censor my thoughts because they’re thoughts. However, I do censor what I type here about the usurper so as to make it acceptable for polite company.

How does one go about censoring their own *thoughts?* Lots of people control what they say, and know when and where to say things, but censoring their own thoughts? I’m sorry, my personal un-censored thought is that anyone who is claiming to do such a thing is lying. What do they do? Go around all day saying “Don’t think that. Don’t think that. Don’t think that.”

I don’t believe it. And I also don’t believe that people have become any less vocal about their thoughts, despite Obamist attempts to portray disagreement as terrorist, racist, or anti-American.

The only serious question is why the increase is gradual, rather than instantaneously 100%. Even those who plan to benefit from him know they are being screwed in the long run.

I don't censor my thoughts at all, but I do take note of who I'm talking to. Expressing my opinions to the wrong people can be bad for business, since Obamabots tend to be nasty and vindictive.

Yes, I don’t censor my thoughts *at all* but I do very much censor what I say, to whom, and I caution my outspoken husband to do the same.

Yeah, I've become more vocal too but when I approach someone who I'm not sure of, I use the same strategy as you by "beating around the bush" a but until I know if they are on our side or not. If they are then I go ahead, if not, I pull back. If someone is a true moonbat, they have to convince themselves that Obama is terrible.

I know, I deliver auto parts to shops. I have a fellow I deliver to, he is on our side and listens to Glenn Beck and the others a lot. A guy came in, he's been doing business with him for a long time. The guy says, "you listen to THAT GLENN BECK, I'm taking my business elsewhere!" The mechanic said, "fine." BTW, that guy works for the postal service.

I’d be working as a night janitor.

I wouldn't be working at all, which I'm not, anyway. So I just go ahead and say them (not necessarily stupid).

I’ve cut relationships with relatives over this. Dumb ass socialist relatives. All of whom had everything they wanted growing up.
