They must have the votes and probably had them all along.
Waxman said they had to vote on the Senate bill...that is what I heard. And they cant add the amendments until after the President signs it...which the way things are supposed to work.

Democrats in committee confirming they are abandoning deem and pass. Will hold separate votes on reconciliation & senate bill.
Could mean that they don't have the votes and thus need Cardoza's vote. He said he was a "no" so long as it was done by Demon Pass.

Could also be a LIE. Waxman himself said they will be voting for the senate bill - it was a tricky lie. I would not listen to the Dems or the WaPo. They are playing with the meaning of words.
So....House will vote on the EXACT Senate bill already passed?
I don’t see how they have the votes to pass the senate bill. Everyone in the house knows that the senate is never going to pass the reconciliation bill.

Unfortunately, this probably also means that they're confident in their whip count.
Either you are voting for the Senate bill or you aren't.
Or they’ve become convinced that demon pass will go down in flames after the USSC gets a good look at it.
Their Yes votes were predicated on demon pass and a vote on the reconciliation bill, not on voting directly for the Senate bill.
They are still short, way short.
The “YES” mindset can change if Deem & Pass is gone and one is now more accountable with an Up & Down vote.
I think you are right. If the Dems had the votes for deem and pass, they would go forward with it. But they don't, so why go forward when it will fail?
Dems will now just delay and try to switch a few votes to the yes side. Let's hope they fail on that as well.
What is happening now is simply rats in vulnerable races trading their YES votes with people from safe districts to be able to vote NO.
They may feel they will get the votes by going with the EO. Lots of back room dealing going on right now.

Kinda makes me wish we hadn’t screamed quite so loudly - if they pass it on an up-or-down vote it’ll become law without that hook for a possible court challenge.
That’s what they’re saying, but they will have no assurance that the senate will pass their reconciliation bill. This can’t be good news for them. It brings up issues of trust between the two houses again and that’s going to lose them votes.
I don’t think Deem and Pass is being abandoned because they have the votes. I think it’s being abandoned because they realize they cannot legally accomplish it that way. The senate bill cannot be passed at the same time as the reconciliation bill, because they seem to have determined that the senate bill has to become law first. So, they have to pass the senate bill and have it signed by the president and THEN pass the reconciliation bill.
Anyone who thinks that this will go anywhere beyond Obama signing the first bill is delusional and a good number of Dems have to know that.
What you’re slowly witnessing is the takeover of this great country and they’ve yet to fire a shot.

I don’t agree. A vote for Deem & Pass could merely signal one’s desire to be able to HIDE their vote with no accountability. Up & Down vote provides no cover! It’s a game changer.
That is true. I am wondering if Congress is getting sick of Obama, and this drama, and just wants it over with, one way or the other. They are human after all. The stress must be unbearable for all concerned. I still say it will not pass, and Dems will end up hating Obama for his wretched handling of this.

It’s because deem and pass got so much negative publicity, it was costing them votes. So they dropped deem and pass to maintain their majority vote count.
They are not confused. They know exactly what they are doing. They must have the votes.
However, if there was anytime in the last 50 years that Demos would lie 24/7 this is it.

I have faith in Mark Levin and others working with him. He, and they, have all the contingencies covered, I feel certain.
I believe the pro-choice beeches would not vote for the Senate bill if BO promises Stupak’s group an exec order to not cover abortions.

The December Senate bill is very stinky and corrupt and will become law if they have the votes. The companion reconciliation bill is just a fantasy, and political theater that the Senate Dims will be reluctant to invest much effort in passing. The Dims desperately want the public to have health care amnesia so they can move on to other disastrous distractions such as amnesty.
At least with the Senate bill, the Dims will have a big “kick me” sign plastered on their butts.
What we’re watching is a high-stakes chess game. Keep the faith.

When would the wording of a Deem & Pass look like?
I am Helen. However, I, like millions of other true Americans in this country am at a “boiling” point at what is going on in my country.
At this point the only thing thats clear is everyone is confused.
Think I'll just sit back & pray for the best.
So — could the RATS do this:
1. House Pass the Senate bill
2. House Pass their reconciliation bill
3. The Senate bill goes to Obama, who sits on it while,
4. Senate debates and ultimately passes the House reconciliation bill, which then
5. Goes to Obama who then signs both, in essence simultaneously.
Using Obama to buffer the first bill would give assurance to the weak-kneed Dems that the Senate bill won’t become law without their changes.

And once he gets what he wants, he won’t bother Congress with it any more, he won’t need them- he’ll immediately begin hammering immigration “reform” through, so that 30 million more people will be covered under his shiny new bill. Congress won’t have time to “fix” anything.
He won’t have to pay attention to, or sign, any amendments until he’s further along in his agenda.
