Did tsunami lower Indian Ocean temperature? (interesting implication for chile quake...el nino)

NEW DELHI, FEB. 1. Could the tsunami that hit the Indian coast impact global climate? Scientists at ISRO have found that the temperature over a vast stretch of the Indian Ocean had cooled significantly around the same time the tsunami struck, raising the question whether it could have a cascading impact on the atmosphere and consequently the climate across the world.

Speaking to The Hindu , Vijay K. Agarwal of ISRO's Space Application Centre in Ahmedabad, said data collected by a satellite operated by the U.S. and Japan, which were consequently corroborated by information from a data buoy on the surface of the Indian Ocean, have shown that the sea surface temperatures had come down by between one and 2.5 degree Celsius around the same time the tsunami struck. The temperature change was found over a large block of the Indian Ocean from the central Bay of Bengal to the Equator, which would be about 200 million sq.km. The anomaly had persisted for about a week.

Chilean tsunami may hasten that with churning of deep cold water to the surface. Also note from link above that waters off Florida (gulf stream) cooling as well. This could have big implications for Europe going forward as Gulf Stream is only thing that keeps Europe from being more like Alaska than the temperate lower 48.

Clearly Al Gore will be rejoicing over this bit of information as it will be argued that earthquakes are simply nature’s way of attempting to compensate for evil human induced global warming.

Could the temperature have been enfluenced by the Haiti event? There is a distinct possibility that the melting of arctic ice could change the North Atlantic Deep Water circulation to the detriment of the Gulf Stream and European climate.

This is actually very plausible - the tsunami churning the cold waters from the depths of the oceans, to cool the surface waters.

Actually this makes for good common sense, for once. So if the cold lower waters are coming to the surface, which will affect the gulf stream, global cooling will result, causing more ice in the ice caps, which will further affect the gulf stream and keep the cooling cycle going. Get ready for the predicted mini ice age which is better than droughts and warming. God has it all under control.

Yes, this is plausible, just think ? some of that cold water has not seen the light of day since Christ walked the earth.

Chilean tsunami may hasten that with churning of deep cold water to the surface.

The thermocline layer is not that deep, around 100-200 meters below the surface. Mixing the top layer with water from just 200 meters down will dramatically lower the surface temp.
