Free Republic is a fringe right-wing Christian fundamentalist site
12/11/2009 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 12/11/2009 5:57:16 PM PST by Jim Robinson

Free Republic is a fringe right-wing Christian fundamentalist site... or so they say... and they might even be right.

We don't go for any of that godless left-wing big government socialist malarkey. And we do put our faith and trust in God, not government. We are pro-God, pro-Life, pro-Family, pro-Country and pro-Liberty.

We do not believe that government or science knows what's best for us or our children. We will make our own decisions thank you very much.

Every once in a while some group of posters get together and try to bend Free Republic to their will. Now, we tend to be pretty free-wheeling around here and will take a lot of guff and a lot of obnoxious insults from a lot of people, but eventually a breaking point is reached.

For example, when a group of RINO lovers recently banded together to try to force FR to accept an abortionist/gay rights RINO as our presidential candidate, they soon found themselves on the outs.

And a few years ago a group of evolutionists tried to force FR over to their way of thinking and they soon found themselves on the outs.

FR is a pro-God, pro-Creator, pro-Life, pro-Liberty site.

And now we have yet another group of Darwinists trying to have their Darwinist way with us. Well, as I've said before what doesn't kill us will only make us stronger.

Darwin Central has again declared war on FR. They have ping lists and email lists and will try to pull away as many FReepers as they possibly can. So be it. Those who would rather go with Darwin, please go. I sure as hell won't try to stop you.

FR will remain a pro-God, pro-Life, pro-Liberty, pro-Creator conservative site.

We wholeheartedly believe that our unalienable rights are a gift from God our Creator not from man or government. And no man, no government will ever deprive us of same.

Keep your powder dry.

Nonsense, this thread was entirely about fundamentalist Christians "having their foot firmly on the neck" of FR. Nothing more.

If you don't like the fact that Jim Robinson is simply reiterating what Free Republic has always been, why don't you just leave?

lacks patience towards those who are non believers, trouble and lost but is that doing the will of the Lord or the will of the natural man when is in this state no different than the one who is lost?

I think I have shown incredible patience toward you, Resty, even though I believe you are troubled and lost.

I say this sincerely, not mocking in any way.

Not in Sacrament meetings. One of the things the LDS church prides itself on is it’s “McDonalds” style worship. That no matter which ward you attend (even on vacation), it is going to be the same or very similar (subject of talks will vary but that is about it).

Part of that is the strict use of the LDS hymnal. I still have mine BTW.

The other side is amazing grace would not be sung, because it goes against LDS teachings.

“Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound, that saved a wretch like me

Newton calls himself a “wretch”, and we are back to the “filthy rags” arguement. The word wretch also referrs to the doctrine of “original sin” or “total depravity”, both of which is contrary to LDS doctrine that we are BORN children of God. Also he uses “saved” in the past tense, which the LDS do not. The LDS never point to a moment they were “saved”, it is always a progression.

The second verse also goes against LDS doctrine:

“Twas grace that taught my heart to fear, and grace my fears relieved, how precious did that grace appear, the hour I first believed”

Newton is describing a “Born Again experience”, the realization that he was a sinner in need of a Savior (he was a Slave trader and cried out to God during a terrible storm at sea, iirc) and that the Grace of Jesus Christ appeared when he believed.

The LDS view of grace is totally different. Their definition of “born again” is baptism into the LDS church, not the “Jesus experience” that Newton is describing.

That is not news or you would not get away calling Mormons morons!

But I am strong in my faith so if you chose to be disrepectful and uncout

Ummm....Resty, honey. I believe eyedigress was talking about the MORONS who are the Dawinst Central crowd that this tread was about.

I am VERY sure he did not mean “morons” in place of “morMons”.

I understand the need and effort to maintain some level of conservative purity and decorum on these threads. I understand the "Night of the Long Knives" like purge of the Darwin Central instigators, but how can anyone defend this post (2282) as being pro-God, pro-Creator, pro-Life, pro-Liberty, pro-Christian, pro-conservative values, and pro-religious freedom?

No one needs to claim that a double standard exists, all one needs to do is point to this and the conclusion is obvious. I am embarrassed for WVKayaker, Free Republic and those who have chosen to turn a blind eye to this.

Before or after that Tower incident?

Technically, all non-Jews are Noachides, so I was actually born one (and so were you). However, I've identified as a Noachide for over nineteen years.

Wow! Time flies.

FR will remain a pro-God, pro-Life, pro-Liberty, pro-Creator conservative site.

Free Republic represents the world view, the values, the culture, the truth, and the view of America's purpose and morality represented in almost four hundred years of American history.

This makes FR, like America itself the envy of the leftists and other sewage of the world, invoking their hatred.

The truth has always made Free Republic full of light and 'free',causing the Darwin Central types to flee to a darker site where they can deny that we are "endowed by our Creator with certain unalienable rights".

You really mean:
“endowed by our Creator to deny certain unalienable rights to those with which we disagree”

No, you have it exactly backwards.

What I really mean is to quote our nation's founding principle that explains where our rights are from.

"endowed by our Creator with certain unalienable rights..."

This means our rights come from our Creator, not from the state.

If someone wants to disagree, they may, they just should not be able to use their god "Big Government" to force the 'Creatorless' view onto other people's children by using leftists who run the Big Government Public School monopoly.

Hey troll, can you please give an example of a SINGLE God-given right which is denied to ANYONE in America.

You want to be mainstream that is your right...

When you make statements about another you really should let God be God sense you do not speak for Him!

This is so transparent about the antis who like to accuse and distort the LDS doctrine on becoming gods but is the Lord that will chose his joint heirs which is vast difference for it is a blessing of the Lord.

Many anti in this corporal life have taken upon themselves to act like gods when they post thing like

“I think I have shown incredible patience toward you, Resty, even though I believe you are troubled and lost.”

Neither of us knows each other yet you voice things like this.

I know what is says, and what it means.
It is also plain to see how that concept has been horribly perverted on this thread.

I am aware of the efforts of Alamo Girl and bettyboop, and I understand that they are very sincere. But with all due respect, what they do has no relation to real, actual science. They simply don't have the background in either science or theology.

Why do you say that, DGray? I mean, on what basis? How does one acquire such a "background," in your view?

You wrote: That's why I prefer the writings of Pope Benedict. He is a brilliant man with a deep enough knowledge of both to be able to tackle the issue from a position of authority.

I also appreciate the splendid writings of Pope Benedict. Indeed, he is a world-class thinker with a "deep enough" (???) knowledge of science and theology. But does one have to be a recognized authority in order to think, engage the world in its many aspects, and write about it? Pope Benedict's background is not in science, it is in philosophy and theology. Yet he speaks to scientific issues with deep knowledgeability....
