I believe you may be correct about that. I developed hearing loss in my 30’s and wear hearing aids and a helmet would make them whistle. I know his device is different but could be affected.

Leno himself usually comes out prior to the show start to
encourage the audience to be enthusiastic. Several
blinking applause signs are activated at the appropriate times
to instruct the audience who come from all over the country.

However, spontaneous applause certainly happens even if the
a Stagehand decides not to blink the signs.

My guess... Applause for Leno's views were encouraged and
those for Rush... spontaneous!

Don’t know if you remember a number of years ago I wrote you that my brother and SIL got tickets to Leno’s show. They got put down front in the very front seats and I got to see them on TV. They asked the man right in front of them a question, lol.

Takes awhile to get those tickets.

I may have that TV tuned better than some of the FReepers who said their pics of Rush on their TVs was not as good
