It’s frightening that the USA had been the most “righty” country in the world. Nobody else even close? I couldn’t see George W. Bush tolerating this. And why does Mexico put up with it? Do they want their own constitution to turn into similar silly putty?

Well this isn’t necessarily bad. It is just a restoration of diplomatic ties. This could also mean that the EU and OAS are moving to recognize the transitional government.

I forget the percentage that support this action taken, but the vast majority are glad the ex-president is gone, and they support the current internim president. Perhaps HonCitizen can provide that info?

I think it was Hannity’s radio show, not tv show.
Not 100% sure, though.

If either of you decide to start a Honduras ping list please add my name. I have been following what if going on there as best I can.

With the number of people I see responding to the various Honduras articles / threads on FR I suspect it would be a popular ping list to be on.

I can’t imagine every country is as foolish as the United States in not examining what really happened in Honduras. I can’t fathom the idea they all believe this coup nonsense!

The OAS Secretary General Jose Miguel Insulza

Several weeks ago they were pounding their chests. Now they are returning with their tails between their legs.

Well there is still a slight perspective problem: OAS Secretary General Jose Miguel Insulza remarked that the present moment, with the new constitutional president of Honduras, is "a great opportunity to sit down and negotiate and promote a peaceful solution" to restore legality in the country.

Of course, Hillary sees no problem with this language, but I think the Honduran government is still a little sore about it.

Despite any pretense to the contrary, the form of government in Mexico is corruption.

Miami Herald http://www.miamiherald.com/news/5min/story/1248828.html:

They’re torturing me, Zelaya claims

Honduras’ fallen leader told The Miami Herald he is being subjected to mind-altering gas and radiation — and that `Israeli mercenaries’ are planning to assassinate him.

Hopefully the good people there will hang tough.

Good luck.

There are 35 [!] members of OAS who have signed the charter.

All 35 independent countries of the Americas have ratified the OAS Charter and belong to the Organization.

Antigua and Barbuda

Dominica (Commonwealth of)

Panama

Argentina

Dominican Republic

Paraguay

The Bahamas (Commonwealth of)

Ecuador

Peru

Barbados

El Salvador

Saint Lucia

Belize

Grenada

Saint Vincent and the Grenadines

Bolivia

Guatemala

St. Kitts & Nevis

Brazil

Guyana

Suriname

Canada

Haiti

Trinidad and Tobago

Chile

Honduras (**)

United States of America

Colombia

Jamaica

Uruguay

Costa Rica

Mexico

Venezuela (Bolivarian Republic of)

Cuba (*)

Nicaragua

Here is the charter: http://www.oas.org/juridico/english/charter.html

Has a strict policy of non-intervention and permits member countries to self-determine type of government.

Haven’t read the whole thing, nor am I an attorney, but it seems to me that Micheletti could use the opportunity to present the case of the Honduran people...then tell them to bugger off if they keep insisting.

One thing that might be useful is for those on the inside to film EVERYTHING they can. Also, to share the OAS charter so as many people as possible will know their rights as a member of the OAS.

Hope this isn’t old information and boring! Just thought I’d dig around to help.

Perhaps Obama wants Honduras to cave as a precedent for when he is removed from office...it could happen. Too many cases building momentum.

May our Honduran friends prevail. Wither thou goest...
