ORO VALLEY — U.S. Sen. John McCain told a friendly crowd of about 800 Friday that the health-care plan touted by President Obama is ailing as a result of the swelling opposition at town hall events across the country.
Six months ago, the Republican said he was resigned to the fact that the Democrats in Congress had the numbers and momentum to push through a bill.
But that was before politicians started hearing from seething folks in their home districts.
"I would argue this is one of the most difficult times in the history of this country," McCain said, noting Americans are concerned not only about health care but also about the economy, the war in Afghanistan and the growing deficit.
Ticking off the billions that have been poured into the federal stimulus package and the bailouts of the banks and the automobile industry, he said the policies amount to an "unsustainable expenditure."
"Americans are deeply concerned and angry about what we have done to future generations of Americans. We have committed generational theft."
Calling the town-hall and tea-party protests "a peaceful revolution," McCain said, "I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like this in my years of public service."

Unless conservatives unite behind one candidate and figure it out between Deakin and Simcox, Juan McCain will continue to be in Washington for as long as he wants.
This is exceptionally sh*tty reporting. I would guess that people are more interested in what he said about Sarah Palin than anything else, but the reporter didn’t bother to tell us his response.

He recently derailed the attempt by Senate Republican leaders to junk the delaying filibuster technique for judicial appointments; and he is one of Congress’s leading worry-warts on global warming. As long as the Republicans have OPEN PRIMARIES for the presidential race, we will have others choosing candidates like McCain for us.

McCain will win handily regardless who conservatives unite behind.
