BOSTON - Sen. Edward M. Kennedy, the liberal lion of the Senate and haunted bearer of the Camelot torch after two of his brothers fell to assassins' bullets, has died at his home in Hyannis Port after battling a brain tumor. He was 77.
For nearly a half-century in the Senate, Kennedy was a steadfast champion of the working class and the poor, a powerful voice on health care, civil rights, and war and peace. To the American public, though, he was best known as the last surviving son of America's most glamorous political family, the eulogist of a clan shattered again and again by tragedy.
His family announced his death in a brief statement released early Wednesday.
"We've lost the irreplaceable center of our family and joyous light in our lives, but the inspiration of his faith, optimism, and perseverance will live on in our hearts forever," the statement said. "We thank everyone who gave him care and support over this last year, and everyone who stood with him for so many years in his tireless march for progress toward justice, fairness and opportunity for all."

The socialists now have ONLY 59 votes in the senate
U R Wrong. They still have Collins & Snow.
I believe that Snowe and Collins won’t push SOCIALIZED MEDICINE on us.
And save a place at that table for Dan Blather, too.
APPLES / Oranges. Like equating capital punishment with abortion.
Ted Kennedy was no Tony Snow
The left will try to gin this up as a political tool to ram through Obamacare...perhaps they will find that the average American did not worship the Senator or his family and that their reverence to his memory will be found wanting.
God loves me the same as He loves Ted Kennedy. God does not want anyone to go to hell. He loves Ted Kennedy with perfect love. God is holy. His justice is true, His wrath is real, His mercy is great, and His grace is free. We have this life to receive His mercy and grace.
I wish I could reflect God's love in every situation.
I seek God's perspective on this.
For me, I resolve to let God work His might work.
Let’s not forget Teddy was doing his darnedest to screw the American people over one more time by using his familiy’s influence to change the election rules one last time... in order to give us Deathcare.
My exact point in posting.
Did Nancy Pelosi died, too??? (Oh wait, that's the Queen!!)
At least in senate in 2011 WILL NOT have Harry Reid or Ted Kennedy in it!!!
I noticed on Fox News this AM all the video of a decrepit old man hunched over who could hardly walk with a cane. Why were these images withheld and only flattering images used till now?
I agree.
Which one of us wants to be treated fairly by God?
Maybe the ideas of the REPUBLICAN PARTY!!!
Thank you very much!
Following suit.
Because Fox is pushing big government with a conservative slant to hook the right leaning peons. They take their orders from the mentally programmed, liberally indoctrinated narcissists who control the "lofty towers" just like everyone else.
I really don't get the Left's obsession and insistence on American royalty. Our nation was founded on the rejection of such foolishness.
If liberals love the European way so much, GO LIVE THERE!
Rest in peace, Mr. Kennedy.
Woo Hoo!
Let’s keep the ball rolling!
Thank you very much!!
Moral equivalence arguments (the most minor and inadvertent evil act is no worse than the most diabolical and intentional series of evil acts) are absurd.
Minimizing the evil that Ted Kennedy wrought through the enormous political influence he wielded is also a wrong, corrupt judgment.
What God chooses to do in the eternities is God's judgment. The rest of us have to contend with this corrupt world as it is. Successfully navigating this jungle requires clear and decisive judgment of what is good, what it is evil, and what is more evil.
“God loves me the same as He loves Ted Kennedy.”
You don’t know that
“God does not want anyone to go to hell”
But He knows who is going to
