WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama says he has lost confidence in the inspector general who investigates AmeriCorps and other national service programs and has told Congress he is removing him from the position.

Obama's move follows an investigation by IG Gerald Walpin of Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson, who is an Obama supporter and former NBA basketball star, into the misuse of federal grants by a nonprofit education group that Johnson headed....

Wow! This is incredible. The mere fact of Bambi’s involvement in this case in the first place is way out of line and the firing is such a blatant act of interference and political manipulation that it just about makes your mouth drop open.

Once again, though, Obama is handling the checks and balances in his usual and completely effective way: ignoring them and simply going on doing what he was going to do anyway. It’s amazing how effective simply ignoring the law can be if you’re the right person.

Unbelievable. They paid back half of the $850K grant, which to me is a clear admission of wrong doing, and the IG gets fired???
And the loser President gives no reason to the Congress for the firing which he is supposed to provide??

Germany had its house painter and now we have our community organizer.

The Bush administration replaces Justice Department attorneys who were working at his discretion and undermining his policies, and criminal investigations ensue.

Obama fires the person responsible for keeping a politically correct money-pit honest, and he will be cheered for his action.

Even if I did not think that this is another dictatorial move (which I do), the POTUS (gag) has no business getting into the weeds of this business unless there was gross misconduct and then there should be a hell of a lot more firings than this.

This is a pretty intimidating threat to all internal affairs agents in all government agencies.

Yes. It is up to Republicans to keep this matter in the forefront. Every time he gets away with a stunt like this, the rule of law is further eroded.

With all the people under his bus, he’s going to need to get a bigger one.

This one looks like it might be big enough, AND it’s 4-wheel drive.

I wonder if the fired IG can contest this or take it to court for unlawful termination?

During or after his stay in the hospital?

Yours and mine both. This was definitely my first reaction but we gotta get our facts very straight to make a ruckus so we'll keep tabs on this one.

I hope the conservative talkers deal with this one, too.

I have no idea of what you speak in basketball, I do know that HS coaches make their students watch the wnba to learn the proper way to play the game.

a little aside. I went to a Catholic HS in The Bronx, NY. my homeroom teacher promised draconian punishment to anyone who did not go to see our BBall team one night. We had to go watch our school play Power Memorial HS. they had a star player named Lou Alcindor. We beat the Kareem Team.

anyway my sports are BASEball, Hunting and Fishing. after that, I watch NFL too during the playoffs and thats it.

I am very racially evenhanded as I have no use for either Basketball or Hockey.

Try to find anything out about this and you get the same AP story recast in each of the media accounts.

I've watched inner city "non-profits" for sometime now and can tell you that generally the way they remain non-profit is by bleeding every cent they can off in fees to vendors.

Vendors in turn are wired into local democrat organizations/officials.

The parent operation usually spins off for profit subsidiaries (development llcs or management companies) - that's where the real money is made.

From what I could see this st. Hope operation has been at it a long time.

Also remember that massive salaries for nonprofit executives do not count as “profit.” Wealthy Libs love to claim credit for their contributions to society from their nonprofit employment, yet they fund their castles with their income from them.

Is this a racial thing? Or are we not supposed to ask?

The New Black Panthers caught on tape and now the mayor of Sacramento who has agreed he misused federal funds.

This is the area of law that allows Jesse Jackson, Sr. to be "nonprofit" isn't it.... (not really a question)

“As president, I would BAN the thug sport of Basketball.”

That’s fine as long as you include scratch your ass and spit (baseball) in your ban!

Bambi is wierd (well, we all knew that!) with his obsession with stamping out relatively low-level opposition. Heck, it wasn't even opposition and didn't affect Obama directly. He seems to have no time for the important stuff, but lots of time to float around giving airy speeches and then getting into individual issues that are way down the food chain and with which he should have no involvement.

Rush has been absent from our radio airwaves for a few years now but he's coming back on in two weeks- live. That'll be good. The timing is perfect.

Things are going to start getting really interesting now especially if conservatives and republicans start standing up and fending off this corrupt media (not to mention the govt.)
