My friends live in Bel Air...they act like there is not one close....I’ll tell them they need to get out more..I’m not sure how they handle that life with 4 kids
i lived in Manhattan single for 8 years...that was enough
yep...Leslie Wexner has single handedly homogenized much affordable retail clothing..
I guess since NOBODY connected with big business hunts any more, and not too many of them fish, they had to change their tune and sell to teenagers and those who wish they were still teenagers.
I'm glad we got a chance to visit when they were still cool.
(My husband is 6'6" and admits to 250. Hard to find clothes for a guy his size.)
I buy longs when i can find them
XXL tall
My younger Labrador, the juvenile delinquent, has proved that their "Chew Proof Beds", while expensive, really ARE chew proof.
They also have a fabulous no-questions-asked return policy.
AND twice a year they have a warehouse sale here that can't be beat. 50-75% off, which brings the prices down to something near reasonable. I have bought dog bowls, beds, leashes, and even sweaters, jackets, and ladies' dresses at those sales. I have a soft wool sweater from Orvis that will not quit. It's tough enough to wear in the field but nice enough wool to wear with casual pants and an oxford shirt.
But the absolute prize was when I was rummaging through the $5 bin at the sale (damaged, imperfect, and returned monogrammed items), and found one of the very expensive polypro microfleece turtleneck dog sweaters in my younger dog's size -- with HER NAME on it!!!!
Everybody at the hunt club makes fun of me for being a dog-spoiler -- until they find out what I paid for it!
Same size hubby wears. Lands End catalog has XL XLong in a lot of items. He buys all his casual pants and his oxford shirts from them. Much cheaper than having shirts made at the local Hong Kong Tailor! (he has a 37 1/2” sleeve, buys 38s from Lands End.)
Bass Pro Shop also doesn’t attack the values of its customer base. That seems to help business.
Then they went metrosexual and became the soft-core porn providers to the 12-18 crowd.
We won't wear their clothes used or free.
Haven’t bought anything since they went soft porn.
Good. They’re just another cog in the free sex wheel of destruction grinding our children’s morality down.
Bass Pro Shops is a Mid-West Springfield, MO based company.
The real Eddie Bauer went bankrupt years ago. The brand name was bought at auction by a new company, that is now going bankrupt. I'm sure the brand will live on under a new owner. The Chinese might buy it this time to wrap their clothing with a familiar American name.
I used to (between 9 and 14 years ago) buy my favorite shirts from Eddie Bauer. It was their “Long Sleeve Solid Color Signature Twill”. The fabric was a tight-weave, thickish, stiff 100% cotton. Then they started to get cheap and the fabric became thin and the shirts just weren’t the same.
I knew the gig was up when Spiegel bought them. I’ts been nothing but downhill since.
Eddie Bauer, the place was always over priced from what I know of it. Never bought a thing from them
Going to LL Bean in the original old building was fun (circa 1965)
Funny you should talk about your height! My best gal-pal is a 6-footer, while I’m a solid 5’1”, LOL!
She loved the ‘Talls’ at Eddie Bauer. I sent her the link; she’ll be on-line stocking up, I’m sure. ;)
