Does Keith Olbermann seriously want to waterboard Sean Hannity?
Entertainment Weekly ^ | Apr 29, 2009

Keith Olbermann wants to torture Sean Hannity. Or is it enhanced-interrogate him?

Last week, Charles Grodin was on Hannity, and the conversation turned, as so many do, to simulated drowning. Grodin says waterboarding is torture; Hannity says it's not, and then Grodin asked, "We can waterboard you?" Hannity replied, "Sure...I'll do it for charity. I'll let you do it." And then Keith Olbermann became obsessed with the statement, offering to give $1,000 to military families for every second of waterboarding Hannity could withstand. "And I'll double it, when you admit you feared for your life," he said on the air.

I'd like to think that Olbermann doesn't actually want Hannity to go through with this -- especially given that Olbermann devoted an entire segment to the legal definitions of torture, and said "the only thing in question is how human are those who condone it?" So, you know, too harsh to inflict on the enemies of our country, probs too harsh to inflict on Sean Hannity.

My guess is that Hannity won't ever acknowledge Olbermann, and the MSNBC anchor will have to just drop it -- and that's the best-case scenario. Otherwise, if Hannity (insanely) agrees to be waterboarded, there are two other possibilities: He says it's horrible, in which case we have tortured someone just to settle a TV wiener-wagging contest, or he says it's no big deal, which isn't going to change anyone's mind about anything ("See, I knew it: Not torture!" or "We can't recreate potentially-torturous conditions with a consenting participant who doesn't actually fear for his safety, so of course it didn't feel like torture to him."). Oh, and we'll have turned waterboarding into a sideshow. Another proud day!

Anyone actually think Hannity will respond to Olbermann's challenge? If he consented to be waterboarded on-air, would you watch?

Liberal. Conservative. Against "torture." In favor of "enhanced interrogation techniques" for people who's stated goal is violence towards American citizens. Can we all just agree that Keith Olberman is an ass?

If he could see to it, Olberman would put Hannity in prison for life. Olberman is a nasty, ugly creep.

1000 a minute is nothing. What a cheap little man. If the, right? I say 10,000.00 at least a 1/2 minute.

If Olberbite really wanted to impress me, he’d submit to being waterboarded himself. That might actually make me tune into Countdown, come to think of it.

Hannity is not associated with terror groups . He has done nothing wrong and knows no secrets that could save lives. There is no reason he should fell compelled to do that.

Actually, it’s $1000 a second. But still not a lot of money for someone who makes several million a year.

Wait a minute. If we are supposedly not allowed to waterboard professed murderers, and downright enemies of the human race...why on earth would Olberman think it is consistent to suggest Hannity needs to be waterboarded. Isn’t he ‘sacrificing his values’?

Of course he does! He like his program, and his ratings are crap. It would be a dream come true for him, as most of his foul renown, he *owes* to Hannity & O’Reilly, for the way he slanders them. Without them, he is even less than he is *now*. Besides, for all of his attacks, it is *he* who is a true descendant of his Gestapo ancestors...and would go into orgasmic delight with evet second Hannity was under water. The sicko freaktard that he is.

Olbey wants and wets his pants just by the thought of the ratings Hannity could bring to HIS show. Alas, Hannity should be smart not to take the offer and just let him wallow in his own despair.

Water-boarding an American Patriot is okay and water-boarding a vicious, murdering terrorist is not?

My, oh my!

“Isn’t he ‘sacrificing his values’?”

How can one sacrifice one’s values when one has no values to sacrifice?

exactly!

The fact these waterboarded people are part of murderous terrorist groups that seek to harm innocent people sails over Olberman’s head as a non-point. Which is nuts.

If he could, he would see Hannity UNDER the jail for life.

If they pursue weatherboarding in the courts and set precedence, than Olbermann could at least be tried in a civil court if he goes though with it.

Hannity could potentially take his money twice and give it to Charity. I am sure he could get more than a couple grand out of Civil Court. Breaking the law is Breaking the law if it becomes law.

Hey, I am ok with this as long as Keith allows Hannity to behead him on national TV. Hannity would be following in the fine tradition of Al Quada’s demonstration of civil disobedience by doing to Keith what Al Quada has done to others...This way Americans can refresh their memories as to what torture really is.

Olbermann is just a big sissy. In fact, he’s the third man in history to be diagnosed with vagina envy after Alan Alda and Phil Donahue. The word around MSNBC is Olbermann would rather hear a fat boy fart than pretty girl sing.

There is no reason he should fell compelled to do that.

The fact that Hitchens did it and went five seconds before he cracked is all the challenge he needs.
