screw them, I got a Ford last fall and enjoy it a lot. I have a good Chevy too but I can see subtle superiority in the fit and function of the Ford.

Per Fox News reporter, Jeff Goldblatt (I believe), Wagoner was forced out ‘by the government’.

You are a fool and a fool of incredible proportions. Just who do you think is qualified to replace him? Give me names. If you know he wasn't qualified then give me a person who is qualified. If you know so much then you must be an expert on who could run GM. It's just about the toughest job imaginable. Do you think you could run GM? How about your friends. Could they run GM. You should do some research and learn some things before making stupid comments.

Wagoner's mom decides to post a response!

Obama really likes a "Command Control Economy" where a president can dictate personal changes at private corporations.

NOBODY with the name Gettlefinger should EVER appear in public life.

Wasn't his predecessor a fellow by the name of Wimpisinger?

Given proper control of GM, my *cat* could run it. Successfully.

GM has lots of Japan-beating, world class vehicles that sell like mad. The thing is, Wagoner and others like him refused (until recently, and then in small numbers with no marketing) to sell them here in the US.

I refer, of course, to GM Europe and their plethora of models, almost all of which outsell their Toyota or Nissan counterparts there by ludicrous margins.

I just posted my OPINION that Bob Lutz would work as an interim CEO because he's the only bright bulb in the place. I have lots of experience with GM.

Seriously??

I wouldn’t buy that unless it was $1000 or under (NEW on the lot) so I could resell it immediately on profit. What a waste and fru-fru car! No way would I put my son and daughter in that death-trap, fru-fru car.

Heck - even if Oprah gave me that for free, I’d seriously sell it for a 88-98 ford or some sorta used, well-running SUV as a trade.

My apologies for any man who drives that make of car (kinda)...

but if a MAN running a company touted THAT vehicle - he really has problems we can’t solve! I’m a female (granted from TX and stubborn as they come), but seriously...I would NEVER drive that little Barbie car...

Obama demanded GM's CEO Resignation

Just nationalize them and be done with it. We can all see where the DemonRATS are going with this. GOP seems stuck in amber.

Hows about you cool your jets and lay off the ad hominems, okay? You're not doing your argument any favors, and yer bein' rude to boot.

As for successors...FWIW, I'd try to headhunt some of Toyota's people. I might also see if Carl Icahn was interested.

Then again, I'd be willing to let GM go belly up. We've got a surfeit of car companies.

GM CEO resigns at Obama’s behest
By MIKE ALLEN | 3/29/09 5:29 PM EDT

The Obama administration asked Rick Wagoner, the chairman and CEO of General Motors, to step down and he agreed, a White House official said.

The White House confirmed Wagoner was leaving at the government’s behest after The Associated Press reported his immediate departure, without giving a reason.

On Monday, President Obama is to unveil his plans for the auto industry, including a response to a request for additional funds by GM and Chrysler.

About three years ago I almost drove off the road, I got so mad. Wagoner was being interview on NPR. He came off like a corporate suit. Dull, no sales, no energy. Boring. OK, I’ll accept that. Then, and this is what made me mad, he was asked about GM vis a vis Japanese quality. He said, “GM will MEET any standard that the Japanese SET”.

Not lead, not beat, but MEET. As in after. As in, “We’ll let the Japanese set the standard”.

His comment slipped right by the dolt NPR interviewer and they moved on, but I knew then that he was a loser, way too fat and happy.

I can not wait for GM and Chrysler to go. Naturally, there will have to be two or three more ‘savings’ of ‘investments’ until these tax money sucking pits go like a bad public housing project or Defense department boondoggle. I’d say they are good for another 100 billion, easy.
