That is one more car than you can find on most GM car lots around here! They are empty!

I wouldn’t buy a GM just because I’m sick of them getting bailed out while the union is still destroying them!

They need to go ahead and file bankruptcy and either start over or die! Enough is enough taxpayer’s money to fund the union!

Wagoner's mom decides to post a response!

No I'm not Rick's mom, just a guy who has spent the last 30 years in the manufacturing environment.

I've actually been on the front lines. I've worked for companies that have made successful products and for companies that have failed as well.

It's an extremely tough environment to operate in. Have you been in a manufacturing environment?

Do you have any concept on how difficult it is to manufacture in the US today?

Do you know who is qualified to replace Rick Wagoner?
The POS Obama hasn't run as much as a lemonade stand and he criticizes Wagoner. Obama couldn't be a "go for" for Rick Wagoner. He could not have made it past middle management at GM, Ford or any US manufacturing company.

Come on April, respond if you got the courage. Make your case for someone who could replace Wagoner. If you are so smart give me some potential candidates.

Exactly!

I would run from the government trying to ‘help me’ with anything! Most of the bureaucrats are clueless! Just call the IRS for proof!

So we, the taxpayers, are supposed to feel good now, as the government hands GM another $22 billion to flush down the toilet? GM should go through normal bankruptcy, without another cent of OUR MONEY.

A selection of cars that GM sells in Europe we don't get here (but should):

Tigra

Sporty-ish little econobox, like the old Honda Del Sol.

Speedster

Hard core sports car, eats Miatas for breakfast. Will also eat Mustangs and Camaros.

Meriva

Small MPV, like the Mazda 5.

Zafira

Medium MPV, like the Honda Odyssey.

Vivaro

Large minivan/small cargo van. Handles well, doesn't flip over, gets great fuel economy.

Insignia

Camry-killer extraordinare. Looks like a family sedan, goes like a sports sedan, handles like a sports car. And that's just a few of them.

Yeah...I love the armchair CEO’s we have here....with the amount of REGULATION and TAXES in THIS country....it’s no wonder our businesses are failing.

“GM CEO resigns at Obama’s behest”

I will never again buy a GM product until there is a large and verifiable distance put between them and the government. Although my father worked for GM most of his adult life, I would rather they fail as a company than to see them become a political tool of socialists.

Yes, Wagoner did some good things at GM.

BUT!

He should never have taken, or even asked for, money from the public!!!

It would have been in GM’s and the Country’s best interests to file BK.

He screwed the pooch.

“$1 a year, dancing a tune called by the likes of Barney Frank??? You gotta be carping me. And if I work myself to death, 24x7 as this job requires, what happens to me at bonus time? I don’t need this carp. I’m outta here! Let the UAW run this mess. Fornicate them.”

We don’t get these here because???? Is it because they don’t “meet” our environmental regs?

You know then that they will use the force of law to make us buy Algore cars....and then GM will be ‘profitable’.

Right?

Just like massive welfare, public housing ‘saves money’.

Same here. I will, from this day forward, endeavor to avoid purchasing a product, or using a service, built by or provided by, a union company.

Truthguy, you need to go have a cold beer. I OWN a manufacturing company in the USA and, unlike GM, we are profitable, even in this recession.

I know lots of people who can run manufacturing companies. Wagoner was a bean counter and, in my OPINION, he has run GM aground. If you are a board member, please Freepmail me. I'd be glad to address your board and help you find a suitable candidate to replace Wagoner. If, however, you are just a gas bag, please save your diatribe for someone who gives a hoot.

I do, however, suspect, Mr. Obama may have his own choice in mind!

Nope, in fact most of them mount one or more of the engines sold in the US for their counterparts, so emissions isn’t a reason. Neither is safety, as most of them were originally designed with half an eye towards US introduction.

No, the reason why we don’t get them here is because of corporate and UAW stupidity. There are a couple of models I didn’t list that we *are* getting here (as Saturns), but they are so watered down “for the American consumer” and so badly made by the UAW that nobody wants them.

Dear President Obama,

On 12/30/08, I placed an order for a 2009 Chevy HHR SS.

As of today, the unit has not been built, nor has it been assigned a build date or a serial number.

As you are calling the shots at General Motors, could you please see to it that my HHR is built and delivered to my Chevy dealer within two or three weeks?

Thank you

Sincerely,

Peter W. Kessler

It sets a dangerous and unAmerican precident for the federal government to become involved in the affairs of a corporation. This should be the duty of the board of directors and shareholders to decide who to hire and who to fire. By what right does the President of the United States have a right to decide who works at any corporation? Where is that in the Constitution?

It is true that GM Europe is doing well. However you are wrong about why those models are not brought here. The are held via government regulations to ...wait for it!....preserve union jobs.
