WASHINGTON – Concerned about the faltering war in Afghanistan, President Barack Obama plans to dispatch thousands more military and civilian trainers on top of the 17,000 fresh combat troops he's already ordered, people familiar with the forthcoming plan said Thursday.
Obama also will call for increasing aid to neighboring Pakistan as long as its leaders confront militants in the border region. The president plans to lay out his revamped strategy for Afghanistan and Pakistan on Friday.
Several sources told The Associated Press the strategy includes 20 recommendations for countering a persistent insurgency that spans the two countries' border, including sending 4,000 military trainers to try to increase the size of the Afghan army.

The original number of troops I saw proposed some months back was 30K, the 4K as trainers may be the extra addeds .. so the number proposed here includes the remainder of the 30K (13K) plus 4K for good measure.
In truth they don’t mind any of them because very few of them are actually in danger of having to bleed.

I agree wholeheartedly. The Rats only protest wars when Republicans are in power ie)Nixon. Code Pink, MoveOn.org, Hollywood & the MSM have gone into dormancy until the next Republican.
My daughterinlaw will be one of those being deployed to Afghanistan next month. My son ..her husband, is also being deployed next month. People like me read these pieces with interest. Their deployment was planned long before Obama took office. But yes he will be adding more troops.
