President Obama said the military was not winning the counter insurgency war in Afghanistan as he opened the door for peace negotiations.
By persuading Iraqi Sunni insurgents to turn on al-Qaeda extremists, US commanders engineered a sharply drop in violence in Iraq.
President Obama said deals similar to those implemented by General David Petraeus in Iraq could be cut in Afghanistan and Pakistan. "If you talk to General Petraeus, I think he would argue that part of the success in Iraq involved reaching out to people that we would consider to be Islamic fundamentalists, but who were willing to work with us because they had been completely alienated by the tactics of al-Qaeda in Iraq."
"There may be some comparable opportunities in Afghanistan and the Pakistani region, but the situation in Afghanistan is, if anything, more complex," he told the New York Times.

He already has spent more time alienating and robbing American citizens and defunding our military whilst praising and lavishing almost 1 billion dollars on a terrorist group dedicated to slaughtering our most faithful ally, women and children 1st.
He has enough explaining to do here, though I'd be satisfied if he permanently relocated there.
