Since the Bill O'Reilly Factor is going off the air after tommorrow. If you haven't already called let them know you would like them to add Mark Levin. He is great and doesn't put up with the liberals or Repubics nonsense.

Contrary to your thoughts Levin’s ratings are soaring.
You must be worried that moderate do-nothings won’t listen.

How can Levin hurt conservatives? * years of moderate
meek willed Republicans gave up and ushered in a hard left government.
Meanwhile the left wing went aggressive, fought dirty and won everything.

My station has already replaced him with Laura Ingraham. I’m happy.

Occasionally Mark Levin gets a lib caller who he thinks can be reasoned with. He doesn’t have any patience with those who can’t be.

What’s not to love about “GET OFF THE PHONE YA BIG DOPE!”?

You’re not forced to listen to any of it.

“He does himself and the conservative movement a disservice with that type of behavior.”

Apparently, many don’t agree with you (including me), as he’s kicking ass all over the country with ratings. We need people who aren’t afraid to speak up audaciously, as most of the GOP politicians and talking heads are mealy-mouthed, spineless, milquetoast weenies.

“[Levin is] a real turn off when liberals call in..Instead of using those moments to make his case and show how bankrupt the caller’s arguments are .. he turns into a name-calling, deranged abuser... He does himself and the conservative movement a disservice with that type of behavior.” ~ aquila48

Get real. Mark’s audience would become quite impatient if they had to listen to him attempting to use reason and logic with those who aren’t even ABLE to live in anything other than a FANTASY world.

Such mentalities aren’t even able to _hear_ him, but (like many of Rush’s listeners,) they have to listen to him, even if they have to hide down in the basement with their radio on under a blanket.

Those emotionally and cognitively mature individuals who happen to tune in accidently who are able to hear him will become fans and regular listeners.

This is reality:

“...it has been estimated that fewer than ten percent of the American public are reliably in Piaget’s highest cognitive developmental stage of formal operations thinking. And even then, one cannot escape the cosmic law of bs in —> bs out. ..”

Fewer than 10% of the American puplic are reliably in the Formal operational stage:

The formal operational period is the fourth and final of the periods of cognitive development in Piaget’s theory. This stage, which follows the Concrete Operational stage, commences at around 12 years of age (puberty) and continues into adulthood. It is characterized by acquisition of the ability to think abstractly, reason logically and draw conclusions from the information available. During this stage the young adult is able to understand such things as love, “shades of gray”, logical proofs, and values. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theory_of_cognitive_development

One example of the behavior that reveals the cognitive development of those who fall into the 90 percent-plus catagory (of the pre-adolescent, “Concrete Operational Stage” is shown here: http://americandigest.org/mt-archives/bad_americans/cutting_through.php

...The important point is that the fantasy precedes the reality, and will look for conditions in external reality to support it, identical to the manner in which the paranoid mind operates. According to deMause, the state of the group fantasy is what national opinion polls actually capture. That is, they take a snapshot of the “mood of the country,” which mostly consists of “gut feelings” that have varying degrees of connection to actual conditions, and more to do with the shifting nature of the group fantasy.
Remember, the bulk of the population is not thinking logically, so it doesn’t matter how many cognitively mature individuals there are at the margins of a poll. That the economic downturn was largely caused by Democrat regulation (the Community Reinvestment Act), that we have won the war in Iraq, and that President Bush kept us safe for seven years, are inconsequential. In contrast, FDR was able to sustain a unifying group fantasy despite economic polices that aggravated and extended the Great Depression for years.
Likewise, job one for Obama will be to forge and sustain a unifying fantasy, not to deal with reality. This is one of the reasons the Democrats will be unable to let go of President Bush, because they desperately need him as a “poison container” in order to keep the toxins out of Obama (more on which below).

Random thoughts on the passing scene:

“...One of the painful signs of years of dumbed-down education is how many people are unable to make a coherent argument. They can vent their emotions, question other people’s motives, make bold assertions, repeat slogans— anything except reason.

Barack Obama is the newest face on the political scene, expressing some of the oldest notions. Virtually everything he says is vintage 1960s rhetoric, as if he has learned nothing from the many disasters that 1960s notions have led to in the decades since then. ..”

“Get real. Mark’s audience would become quite impatient if they had to listen to him attempting to use reason and logic with those who aren’t even ABLE to live in anything other than a FANTASY world.”

That argument is contradicted by the fact that Rush and Hennety both have larger audiences and they both don’t act like deranged lunatics when a liberal calls in. BTW I’m totally in sync with Mark’s world view, and like I said I think the monologues with which he normally starts the show are great.

“...it has been estimated that fewer than ten percent of the American public are reliably in Piaget’s highest cognitive developmental stage of formal operations thinking. And even then, one cannot escape the cosmic law of bs in —> bs out. ..”

Let’s say that that is true, and you do not try to reach the other 90% in some way, then, in a democracy, you’re doomed anyway, so he may as well stop yelling because it ain’t going to do him any good.

I understand and accept the fact that there are people that are unreachable with a rational argument(on both ends of the political spectrum), even if one can make a case that is in their self-interest, but that’s a minority - the rabid left, ecofreaks and utopians, KKK, etc. The majority of the people can at least be made to see what’s in their self interest if you don’t start by insulting them.

I think we can all agree that most people in the middle have been brainwashed by the schools, pop culture and the MSM into believing the crap that liberals dish out. A great majority of these are candidates for conversion. So when you get lucky enough to have someone like that calling your show and you have an opportunity to plant the seeds for a conversion of him (and others like him listening) and instead you spit on his face - it just doesn’t seem very effective. Yes, you may have vented your spleen and gotten a chuckle out of your rabid fans, but you haven’t helped your cause any.

I have no doubt that Hennety and Rush have by far more converts than Levin.

As for his ratings, yes right now they’re growing as he gets into more stations, however I predict he’ll run into the same wall as Savage did once people satisfy their curiousity and then eventually get turned off.

One size does not fit all. Those who are able to recognize substance don’t care who the messenger is. Savage is an extremist, erratic, unstable nitwit. In no way is he a “conservative” (classic liberal).

Savage is a cynical opportunist and merely the extremist right-wing / flip-side of the extremist left-wing coin because that is where the money is at the moment.

That some “conservatives” listen to him merely means that they either lack discernment and/or aren’t really movement conservatives, themselves.

Isn’t BOR opposite Rush — in the same time slot?

I doubt that Mark would agree to compete with Rush; they’re friends and have been for a long time.
