Robert Hendin Reports From Aboard The Inauguration Train

If you could imagine being on the same train as the president-elect, but still being roughly two-football fields away from him, welcome to the press car of the Obama-Biden Inauguration Express.

I’m typing this note from a regular train car, car 1. Behind me is a second car for the press and then the café car, which has diner-style booths filled with yet more press. Car 4, behind that is where the 41 "everyday Americans" are sitting and behind them is staff and security and what not. In the very back of the train is the President and Vice-President Elect and their families.

Wow, that must be killing them, not being able to touch The One’s cloak or gaze up to him in adoration. No tingle for Chrissy’s legs today.

Years ago, there was an airline commercial (foreign, I think) about being in 1st class and coach.

1st class-everyone in designer clothes. Cocktails. A white grand piano with a guy playing. Lots of people laughing.

Coach-peasants around a potato pot. Lots of gray. Little light.

Right now the train is somewhere in Maryland on the way to Baltimore.

He couldn't look out the window at the station signs and figure out where? Too busy pining for a glimpse of Obama, I guess.

This takes me back to the reporter that finally fessed up that Obama kept his distance on the plane (whereas McCain was accessible.) I think it was the same guy who reported that Obama’s plane was “stinky.”

From the article:
John McCain is friendly and loquacious. Obama holds news conferences, but seldom banters with the reporters who’ve been following him for thousands of miles around the country. Go figure.

One of the first things Clinton did in 1993 was to have a door installed at the bottom of the stairs between the Press Corps and the White House Press Secretary’s office on the floor above.

They still adored Clinton.

I couldn't live comfortably another minute with such a mindset.

So now we need someone with some good Photoshop skills to put Biden's face on this pic with a change of the text...

I must have missed something. Obama is staying at a hotel in D.C. So why is he on a train approaching Baltimore? What is the purpose of this train?
