Anonymous attacks, claims follow Palin home.
Anchorage Daily News ^ | November 7th, 2008 | SEAN COCKERHAM

"Instead of just letting her be who she wanted to be they still felt this need to control. ...There were a few times where she actually did sneak in phone calls and was reprimanded for picking up the phone and placing a few calls on her own," Stapleton said. "She felt that she really did want to go out and speak and get out there more. One of them was to (the Daily News). There were a number of times where she reached out and really wanted to speak and she was told she needed to follow the script and she needed to follow what they wanted her to do and that wasn't in the plan."

If I were her, I would have told those people to “stuff it”.

Nothing about her relationship with the campaign and its staffers does anything to lessen my respect for her as a candidate and potential office holder at the highest level. Turns out, she was right and they were wrong. I would count it as a blessing to be called out for going against the grain of the most pitiful presidential campaign in a long time, probably one of the three worst in history.

“Interested reading.”

Screw’m, and screw Carl Cameron on Fox news. I was astounded by his adolescent rant yesterday about all this gossip concerning Palin. Thought he was going to wet his pants he was so excited. I could hardly believe my eyes and ears that he would participate in this whack job on Palin, especially being that he was reporting merely gossip from unnamed and more importantly unknown sources. I have lost all respect for this guy. As far as I am concerned he should go join up with Chris Matthews as that's the par he is on now it seems...

This section of the article needs to be read by all.
Randy Scheunemann, McCain's foreign policy aide, contacted the Daily News at Stapleton's request Thursday and defended the governor. He praised Palin and said anonymous attacks from other staffers are "disappointing and dishonorable."

"It's really amazing, I think it's unprecedented in terms of presidential politics to have this level of vindictiveness and pettiness. It's like these people fell out of favor with a middle school 14-year-old girls' clique. It's really unbelievable," Scheunemann said.

Scheunemann, who played a major role in preparing Palin for the vice presidential debate, said he doesn't believe the claim that Palin thought Africa was a country and not a continent.

"Her debate performance speaks for itself. ... The idea that she could stand up on the stage with somebody who's been in the Senate for 35 years and discuss domestic and foreign policy as effectively as she did, and yet somehow she doesn't know who is in NAFTA and doesn't know that Africa is a continent and not a country is laughable," he said.

Clearly there are some minor players in the staff trying to do some CYA. The staff is responsible for the campaign, and subsequently the loss, and they are attempting to deflect the well deserved heat.

John McCain: What say you?

If these scurrilous attacks were by repubs on dems, you would be over them like white on rice, condemning them. But now? Silence.

Speaks volumes about you.

Good riddance.

14 year old middle school girls indeed. Interestingly enough she never stiffed a waitress or didn’t pay a bill owed to the little people.

Sad Grandpa's oafish crew refuses to stand up on behalf of the remarkable woman to whom they owe such an enormous electoral debt.

Obama, they'll defend... but: a conservative woman? NAAAAHHHHHHHHH.

If anything this diminishes McCain even more.

We can not affort such a weak leadership now.

Obama(tax) speaks one thing and does another.

Even Scarbourough this morning said that Rham Emanual make ANY bipartisan statement of Obama(tax) as just a show and not substance.

I haven’t watched FOX or any of the rest since an hour before the dreaded news on election night. Can’t believe how calm and peaceful the atmosphere within room has been.

I don't think this newspaper treated her very fairly awhile back either. She's a mortal human being for gosh sakes.

Despicable. Never forget.

It is astonishing the level of criticalness directed on Governor Palin compared to let’s say Obama. Especially the clothes aspect. Give me a break.

Will he give his clothes to charity? What about those Greek columns? What were they worth? Where do you return Greek Columns to?

The double standard is unbelievable. I hope Governor Palin does NOT grant interviews now especially with Barbara Walters. Palin has bigger fish to fry. The media is looking to use her up and get ratings. As much as I’d love to see her again, I would ask her to ignore us and concentrate on what is in front of her. Get the gas pipe line moving along to reality. She is a trailblazer. She can still help get us to energy independence while Obama can screw up as much as he can. She needs to continue to build her track record up because I want her to be the next President of the United States. Obama is already running for a Second term. Thanks but no thanks.

I agree totally, Sarah never lost her wit, her sense of humor or her intergrity.

Not like some I don’t care to mention, and others who never had any tio begin with.

Correct.

The Obama people used Cameron to ignite this whole conflagration.

Can you imagine anyone easier to dupe?
