Pennyslvania Governor: Voter turnout looks good- but not as high as he hoped in Philadelphia
Philly.com ^ | 11/04/2008 | Chris Brennan

Pennsylvania governor Ed Rendell told reporters this afternoon that he is "optimistic, but by no means overconfident" about Barack Obama's chances in the state.

Speaking at the city political establishment's annual luncheon at the Famous 4th Street Deli in Queen Village, Rendell said that voter turnout "looks to be good all over the state," and is "going to be very good" in Philadelphia - although not as high as he had hoped.

Wow, THAT would not work at my voting place. These people might be old Democrats, but you don’t want to be holding a nightstick around these old vets. And this guy wouldn’t be getting up in my face either. Pfft.

Oh, I’ll hit my knees for a good long time tonight - that’s much more appropriate than gunfire - but hey, I really will feel like making some noise.

Maybe I’ll just go out front and shout praises and thanksgiving.

I am feeling very good, as I have this entire election cycle. I hit the pillow and was asleep and snoring in 5 minutes last night... much to my wife’s discomfort. I feel just as comfortable today.

Fauxbama’s entire campaign has been a Goebbelesque Propoganda machine, there is nothing behind it and never was.

Today just like in the Wizard of Oz, the man behind the curtain is revealed and all his smoke and mirrors are gone. The silent majority will collectively give the bird to the media, the puppet with the big ears and smarmy smile, and the enemies of America that pull his strings.

We are on the verge of something the size of 1980 folks, yes the margins won’t be as large, but the accomplishment will be no less astounding. With all the millstones around their necks, McCain/Palin will win and win comfortably. Bad Economy, Grossly outspent, media completely in the bag for the opposition and still they will win. Not only will they win, but Republicans will pick up seats in the house!

This was supposed to be a perfect storm for the Dems.. they should have been able to put up Mickey Mouse and win by a landslide, instead they put up goofy and are getting sent packing.

The Democratic party made the same mistake in 08 they made in 04.... they let the raving radicals put up the wrong candidate and it cost them the election. Had the super delegates done their job the dems would have probably won comfortably, but they didn’t. Identity politics bites them on their butts.

04 the D candidate should have been Lieberman if they wanted to win the White House, there is no doubt in my mind had they put him up, there would have been no Bush second term. This year they should have gone with Hillary, they didn’t and they lose again. Democrats greatest enemy isn’t republicans its the radicals within the democratic party itself. If they do not purge themselves of this cancer, they will continue to see this pattern repeat every 4 years.

McCain/Palin, STAND UP AND FIGHT! STAND UP AND CHEER!

Rendell’s in the bag for Hillary, he won’t let PA become FL. He does Hillary’s bidding, not Fauxbamas.

The Clintons and Rendell have had the law laid down on them by the DNC --Rendell isn't risking a purge by dragging anchor if Obama wins

There would be more voting if the Barak Domestic Black Goon Squad were not intimidating the voters. I wonder what would happen if a voter walked up carrying a night stick!

Allegheny went to Kerry by 90k votes. Kerry’s total margin of victory was 144k. So if Fauxbama doesn’t win Pittsburgh by a large margin, you are nearly assured Fauxbama has lost.

Fauxbama ran a horrible campaign for a candidate who needed to win the rust belt... He’ll win allegheny county i’m sure, as well as Philly region, but I really dont’ see him pulling the margins that Kerry got, and he definately will not carry Kerry margins through the rest of the state.

If I am right, I’ll be happy to raise a glass with you sometime, mayhaps we’ll plan a celebration at a local bar.

Turnout in the white areas of SE Pa. has been very high.

In one heavily Italian part of South Philly, my dental assitant told me the line went around the block this morning.

In my part of Delaware County over 550 of the 900 registered voters in the precinct had voted as of 3:30 PM (evening rush hour yet to come).

That is a photo I never, ever expected to see in America.

Isn't that the truth.

Is there a shortage "jackbooted thugs" in uniform preventing total public stifling of freedom at polling stations?

That little runt is the “intimidating” Black Panther I heard Hannity talking about earlier today?

He looks like Erkle on crack.

I was poll watching at a suburban Philadelphia precinct from 7 to 3:30. By the time I left, 64% of registered voters had cast a vote in person or by absentee ballot. This is in Upper Dublin Township, Montgomery County. Traffic was starting to increase again as I was leaving.

If McCain wins Pennsylvania then he has a slight chance to win the Presidency.

If McCain wins Pennsylvania, then it is game over for Oba Mao. We and New Hampshire may be the most possible pick-ups of the 2004 Kerry states, but I think we have a stronger shot than New Hampshire. Gov. Rendell is already playing down expecations by saying Philadelphia turnout is not as good as he expected.

The first wave of exit polls are going to be released in about 5 minutes.

Do NOT believe the polls. Good or Bad. It’ll be hard to not start gloating if McCain is up but remember Kerry in 2004. I don’t want you being one of the crybabies if the exit polls turn out to be mega-wrong.

Just looking out for my fellow FReepers.
